QoL Improvements proposals
Hi. I'm Albi. Like most of us, I've been playing this game for a very long time. Everyone also knows that PoE mechanics are sometimes hard to understand. Not only for new players.I would like to write about my suggestions to make the game more accessible without losing its difficulty.
Let's begin: - USER INTERFACE - 1. Buffs and debuffs Sometimes I play builds that require a lot of auras. I'd like to see them so I can be sure if I turned them back on after I died for example. On the other hand, sometimes I accidentally click in the upper corner of the screen and accidentally turn it off. In my opinion, this should not be possible in a game where clicking on different sides of the screen is so frequent. Secondly - a nice option would be to automatically remember enabled auras. After dying while playing softcore, you have to turn everything on again. Third - it would be nice to be able to customize the size of buff icons. 2. Skill slots Mostly players try to use as few buttons as possible. Builds are based on one skill in most cases. But sometimes I was in a situation where I would like to be able to add something in addition to my main aoe skill, single target skill, curses, movement skills and other things. For example Vaal Haste or Vaal Discipline. I was running out of space and would have to use alternate alt+1 etc. But such a solution is inconvenient and is mainly suitable for auras. No one uses keyboard shortcuts like this during an intense fight. Therefore, in my opinion, there should be an additional (optional) skill bar on the screen, which could be enabled in the options. - KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS - 3. No information about useful keyboard shortcuts The availability of knowledge for some keyboard shortcuts is limited in my opinion. Some things, like buying in larger quantities faster with hotkeys, I learn from youtube. My idea is to add a short tutorial at every window (which can be disabled by the player and later re-enabled in the options), that describes possible keyboard shortcuts in a dialogue box, trade window, or stuff like that. - GAME TRANSLATION - 4. Languages not supported It is understandable that it does not pay to translate the game into every possible language of the world. However, you have already given players a lot of PoE customization. For example, using item filters, or planning a build in PoB (providing the data needed for its operation). So why don't you let players create their own custom translations for the game, which could be implemented in a similar way to item filters for example? I believe that some dialogues or information on boards/rocks/monuments are written in difficult English for someone who only knows the basics. In this way, the lore of the game would be more accessible for many players. 5. Purchase requests in a foreign language Sometimes when I want to buy something, I can copy the message from the game page, but only in the language of the seller. If I close my browser, I will forget what I wanted to buy when that person later invites me to a party. A nice option would be to show this message in English when hovering mouse over it (or in the language I'm currently playing in). - GAMEPLAY - 6. Mob resistances I'm glad I can see the monster's HP with its weakness on elemental dmg. However, during combat it is not very noticeable. There is often a lot going on during the fight. I would suggest that these markers be colored and (as an optional feature) also visible above the hp bar in the game. Not only after moving the mouse over the hp of a given monster. 7. Crafting Crafting in PoE is a very complicated thing. It requires great knowledge about the game. In my opinion, this is caused by an un-updated crafting system that is still based on trading items in the trade window, unclear purpose of some orbs and lack of information about basic limits on items, or possible affixes/prefixes. - A more precise and visible specification of the operation of certain things or currency, would allow players to operate the orbs more freely. - Transferring all crafting to new crafting bench would simplify the whole process of creating items. - List of available options in such a crafting bench designed to create items from scratch,(the same way it exists now) with a list of available affixes, prefixes, the possible outcomes of using a particular currency on an item or results of combining items (like now in the trade window) would encourage players to craft much more often. 8. Party and game performance issue Most of us have big performance issues when we play with a full squad. There should be more features that allow you to disable at least partially lagging animations of other players. 9. Looting league currency Things like sulphite or metamorph fragments eventually are not items, that we have to loot. However, these are exceptions. Things like breaches on map, Cassia rewards or expedition bosex are annoying to loot, because it takes a long time to collect everything. My propositions: - Rewards from breaches should be stacked at the end of the breach (like in breachstones). - Rewards from Cassia chests should be included in loot near NPC. - Legion encounter should have visible area of effect (like breach) from which monsters cannot exit, so we don't have to look for loot from legion all over the map. - Expeditions should have a predetermined connection between explosives, which have several connection possibilities. This would save time spent meticulously stacking explosives to complete this encounter efficiently. In addition, boxes from this encounter should be more visible and marked on the minimap. - NPCs from Jun encounter should have 2 icons under their name after killing them. Symbolizing bargain and execute. The aftermath of one of these actions should be symbolically shown on the NPC icon (The type of item that will drop and what will happen in the syndicate). Not everyone pays attention to it, and clicking on such an NPC while making a map can be deadly. - Items from Einhar's animals should drop faster. This could be solved by Einhar throwing his net earlier (20-30% hp) trying to catch beast (such an animation), but we have to finish it off, and then the item drops. 10. Suggested builds In cooperation with streamers, content creators or just build creators you should approve the starter builds for each class so that the new player has some idea of what he can do in this game. It's very hard to undo something, and creating a new character can discourage someone from continuing to play. Links to such builds should be available in the game and have some sort of gifs showing their possibilities. - TRADING - I know this is optional in PoE and only requires player initiative. However, it still needs improvement, because PoE on Softcore without trading makes no sense. 11. Public offline tabs My proposal is to create a decoration for hideout that can be interacted with by any visitor in this hideout. After clicking, the player sees the selected public tab (or tabs), where items are listed for a specific price or price to be negotiated. It could work like a regular NPC shop. At pathofexile.com/trade there would be 2 options: write to someone directly or a button that takes the player logged in on their character to the seller's hideout, who put his/her item(s) in such a public bazaar. After setting the price, it would be possible to buy even when the seller is offline. 12. Basic public stash Basically, each player gets 4 regular tabs. In order to trade, he must list items publicly on the forum. In my opinion, this is the only p2w aspect of this game, because buying a premium tab with real money is a huge adventage. Instead of figuring out how to post my items on the forum, I can just do it in the game with a few clicks. Therefore, in my opinion, everyone should get 3 regular tabs and one public tab, without the possibility of customization (colors/names etc). Finally, I would like to thank for the great content that continues to be delivered to the game. Greetings to the whole GGG team and have a nice day. I hope some of what I wrote will be of use to you. Last edited by Albi073#7604 on Jan 18, 2023, 4:11:56 AM Last bumped on Jan 18, 2023, 3:59:14 AM
