A note of thanks to GGG - celebrating my 10 years of POE

Congrats!

only 1 more month for my 10 year
Thanks! Many of us who joined late closed beta/early open beta are reaching this milestone. And it’s amazing how many of us are still around! :D

I'm firmly placed on one of the seats in that boat too. I think I actually made an account and tried the game before, but Kripp was the one that brought me back in and really made me try the game.

Congrats on 10 years, dude. Lets hope for quite a few more years of solid entertainment.

Cheers dude!

You beat me by a little, and I do envy you that kiwi - I had to settle for a rhoa... congratulations on ten years of support and what's clearly incredibly determined play.

Thanks!! The rhoa is amazing too! But I did wish I pulled the trigger with a diamond kiwi. Probably going to be one of my biggest regret.

Wow...Grats, dude!

I really admire the contancy. Or rather, the unflinching love for something. 10 years is a looong time. Salud!
Thanks! It is indeed. And something I would have never expected myself.

Ah 10 wonderful years!

I'm coming up on my 10 with this account, had another one longer than that during the beta(s), just monetized this one once the closed beta came to a close. Wanted to get that kiwi lol.

Anyways it's actually surprising it's been that long. I've been critical of GGG, but its undeniable it's been quite the run they have had, and as "rags to riches" a story as there is.

Edit: I also seem to remember Kripp putting this on my radar, or a buddy that saw Kripp. Either way he was pretty instrumental getting PoE off to a good start imo.
For sure!

I guess my 10 year anniversary was last month. It's surprising to me how many people from that timeframe came here as a result of Kripparian; largely because I never heard of him until I got here.

Congrats and here's to the next 10 years :)

Probably the D3 refugee crowd. Cheers!

Congrats mate! I will hit mine one week from now...

I have left and came back a few times but it's hard for anyone not to say this has to be the best RPG game in history.
Indeed!

I'd like to point and laugh at those who were brought here by a Diablo 3 streamer with a then notorious fanbase, but I was brought here by a dude called TotalBiscuit and his oddly compelling video so eh, we all have our weird PoE origin stories as nothing more than followers of one popular beacon or another I guess.

Seriously, I still rewatch that video from time to time. My comment is from 8 years ago and *still* notes how different game was then. 8 years!

Spoiler
Fun little fact near the end of the video from 2011: TotalBiscuit notes that as far as f2p goes, he expected limited character slots (predicted 1 or 2 before payment -- turns out it was 24 from memory) or maybe potions that increase drop rate (his personal upper ceiling for 'fair' f2p mtxes). Amazing that even in 2011, the latter was considered 'okay' for F2P.

He also correctly predicted that feature-flexible leagues would be the future of the game, but in his (our) optimism, saw it more about giving players the means to do what they want, rather than the eventuality of leagues limiting players' options instead.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

There are elements of the art style from back then that I miss. It was a bit grainy, but I enjoyed it. I miss that gameplay speed as well.

I don't miss some things though, like desync and /oos.
Thanks for all the fish!

Wow. Watching that video now myself just reaffirms my belief that my time with this game is nothing short of a happy miraculous incident. So much has changed, and yet, here we are.

Grats on the 10 years Jerle. March 16th is my ten year, so very freaking soon for me as well.
