40/40 Sanctum Thread AMA

Hello everyone,

Usually there is someone starting the "40/40 AMA" thread and I have not seen it so far; so here it goes.

For me the "Definitive Deviation" was the challenge I spent most grinding on.
Otherwise I see Sanctum as a 40/40 doable for more people than usual.

Overall, enjoyed it and still running sanctums for fun.

Did you get it done with RF? Mind taking a look at my build? I build jump too much and get stuck.

i cant reach 40 because my map bonus challenge is bugged and wont go over 114/115

i did definitive deviation today (and can ez finish 40 but i am only about armour)

so it turned out i need to brick my entire run and take cursed coin (no coin gain) afliction


btw i have dropped 2 original sin relics but dont have balls to run it on my srs


cause srs is shitty and not kill off-screen that good

While this may come off as snark, it's meant as an earnest question since, like every PoE league, Sanctum has been vocally divisive among players and its an aspect of the community that facinates me.

What about this league mechanic do you enjoy (and if you can, why)? What made you want to drive for 40/40 this league as oppose to others (or perhaps, what allowed you to complete if you made the effort previous leagues and fell short).

I'm not the OP but I do have 40/40, and for me, this is the first league I've made 40/40 in, the main reasons being that there isn't any unreasonably grindy challenge, not even in EGG (well, GGG now), and that I reached my usual stopping point at 38/40 at a time when I didn't feel like I was done with the league, so I needed an extra goal to keep playing.

I do enjoy Sanctums greatly though, my main problem being how long it takes to get a full Sanctum run.

One tip:
From what I've talked to other people, the trick to Definitive Deviations is to run it on a lower ilvl area (I spammed Ossuary). It seems to be the case that pacts have a lot wider options they can spawn in 81+ lvl areas, so getting the major boons/afflictions is much more difficult when getting sanctums from t16 maps.

First time I played an RF character. And the guides/faq by Pohx is were I started with it. And I kept to RF the whole time, even when I used the low level twink (max lvl 33) to farm the Definitive Deviation challenge.
