help getting POE to work on Steam deck Steam OS

Hi folks,

I am unable to install the game via steam due to being region locked when I tried to install it via the Steam store.

I have tried to install the standalone client by copying the game folder but is unable to get the game working even when I have copied and pasted all the files:
"Content.ggpk is not a pack file"

Please advise how I can get this to work on SteamOS using the Steamdeck.

Okay - I’m not sure about this direction of travel, so let’s take a step back here.

The Steam Deck doesn’t require that you use games through Steam. Have you tried just using the standalone client normally? (Press the Steam button, go to Power, go to Switch to Desktop.)

Trying to trick Steam into using a standalone client install will be tricky initially, and then will potentially explode at a random point in future when Steam tries updating an install it hasn’t created. Unless there’s a compelling reason for trying to jury-rig it, it sounds like an avoidable shitshow tbh.
The standalone client wasn't able to install by itself. The POE installer.exe had to be run using Pronton GE. Annoyingly, in Linux, you can't just double click on an .exe file and expect it to run. Once I did that, the setup ran and just closed by itself, leaving no shortcut on icon to open POE. It's this shortcut that then launches the POE standalone client to download the 30GB of game data. This was not showing up on SteamOS hence there was no way for me to install the standalone client via the 30MB installer that you get on this site.

Very frustrating that steam bans POE because you're currently in a region outside of the US. I'm in Taiwan where the steam deck is being bought/shipped to and yet POE is not available in this region in the steam store.

I don't want to tinker with VPNs to get around this especially not in Linux.
Anyone gotten it to work since? Or any movement from GGG on this? It's been so many years since POE has been on Steam. I'm currently in the Philippines and can't play.

Are you certain your issue pertains to the Steam Deck, as OP's does?

That platform has only existed for one year.
