Awakened gems are pointless

"Maven-witnessed Map Bosses in Tier 14 Maps or higher now have a chance to drop an Awakened Gem (inclusive of the Awakened Gems that are typically exclusive to Maven herself)."

If it would work this way it could be nice.

My first and only "awakened gem" drop happend in the 4x guardian fight witnessed by maven.

No drop by standard boss fights or my two maven kills.

Guess the chance to drop one in t14 ist 0.00000000000000000000000000000000001%
Guess not. You can check how many awakened gems there are for trade - close to a thousand for some, and this is just the people who are currently online. It is so easy to get awakened gems in fact the vast majority of them cost between 10 and 20c.

Exactly this. My *only* woke gem drop was from a guardian invitation. With getting exactly 1 splinter per 10 map invitation, it took me 100 witnessed bosses to fight maven. Zero woke gem drops.

I play WAY more then I should on league launch every league, and it's extremely evident now that the drop rates of actually useful gear is so low it's comical. You aren't farming for gear or weapons in this ARPG, nope. You're farming for currency so you can buy it.

I'm over it man lol
btw farming 10-way fights is completely worthless. Just spec into guardian/conqueror increase map chance from bosses and do altars, then do the 4-ways. 2 4-ways = 1 Maven Writ

Yup. It's insane just how bad Maven witnessing is for general mapping, in a league where the changes were supposed to make it better.

Called it before the patch

The drop rate of awakened gems that make noticeable differences is terrible even on maven herself(like... farming uber maven i ended up with more exceptional awakeneds than the likes of awakened multistrike, chain, cast on crit and such), so it stands to reason that the drop rate of awakeneds with maven presence on regular maps would be uber terrible outside maybe the likes of fire penetration that are worth less than heist alt quality counterparts

does anyone else out there suspect that the difficulty of the map bosses that the maven witness have an effect on the crucible fight? I was doing that for the challenge, witnessing 8 mod vaal'd maps to get 30 of them to complete the challenge and did a couple of those 10 ways and got an awakened gem on one of them. It's not good to farm that nevertheless but the other one only dropped a couple of splinters and a shaper guardian map. Maybe I was just lucky but saw others saying they never got an awakened gem in a hundred attempts so that had me thinking.

Def. not the case, as the difficulty of the fight depends (aside from the "base type" of the boss on the invitation. It doesn´t matter if Maps are 8-mods, the invitation delivers the modifiers.

That's not what endgame means. It means at end of progression. You were talking about difficulty.

I think that this quote is a little telling, if you believe endgame means end of progression, and you are stating that you only get awakened gems when you hit endgame, then maybe they just aren't something you need to be interested in.

Personally, farming Maven, 10 ways, or 4 ways is not the end of progression for me, or many people that play the game. We strive to make our characters stronger and stronger, so those gems being available BEFORE we get into 60/100% delirious maps with full sextants and frags are nice upgrades to have, or fun optimizations to make. Many of them are extremely convenient, Reflect immunity, sources of Unnerve and hinder. They have been watered down a little bit over the patches (RIP Hextouch), but they still serve as fun building blocks. I would also argue that leveling them is not particularly difficult, but perhaps you don't want to put that much time into the game, but that is fine as well, it is okay to not have everything tailored to all players.

By your own description, items like Melding of Flesh, Annihilating Light, voidforge, starforge, Nimis, and forbidden flame/flesh are pointless because you only get a shot at them when your character is reasonably strong. These items exist as exciting new opportunities to make your build even better, or make a fun NEW character to play with.

If you get your fun from going through the campaign, progressing through maps, killing a few bosses and being done that is perfectly fine. Find your fun where you can, but don't begrudge there being things you won't necessarily get because they require more effort/farming.

Poe appeals to many different people for many different reasons. I love making weird builds and crafting items. Every Rare item my character has on this league I crafted myself. Many of them area complete overkill that are entirely not needed for 99% of the game, but I have fun making them and playing with them.

In order to get them, you gotta reach endgame and the bosses who drop those gems are at endgame. And by default you defeated bosses without awakened gems. Not to mention leveling gems to level 5 with massive exp bar.

Summed up: You do NOT, in any way, shape or form need Awakened gems to beat anything in the game. They are just a min-maxing tool to make certain bosses and clearing scenarios more "comfortable"/easy/safe/fast. You have "need" and you have "want. "Need" should be pretty straight forward to get, "want" should be harder to get.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
