Please remove the pink exploding crystals on death
Really been trying hard to get my slayer earth shatter build deep into HC league, I lose my last build last season to the corpse explosion on mausoleum after I had won the fight and relaxed. I thought fair enough my bad I'll learn for next time.
My latest RIP I was in harvest, I am farming easy tier 1 and 2 maps at level 89 , playing safe getting 16 million xp/hour for 2-3 hours and not taking risks. I kill a harvest mob and then bam lots of pinks explode, I spam potion I have 50% chaos res I am completely over levelled and over geared and I lose all my hard work because of something that just randomly appears after you have won an intense fight , maybe I just popped 2-3 monsters all having the same modifier I don't know. It is just a cheap and crappy way to get killed, you win the fight and then bam something you couldn't see instantly wipes your character. I would be shocked if even a single player wants this dumb mechanics in the game. I can accept determined risks like corpse explode where I can sacrifice a skill point, i.e mace stun to go into axes for the corpse wipe but this has just put me off the whole league and this is coming from someone who wasn't in with all the AN moaners, I like difficulty and it's why I don't do the meta stuff. Please GGG remove this mechanic and survey the player pool if you don't think that everyone finds it incredibly disappointing and unenjoyable. Last bumped on Sep 28, 2023, 9:16:08 AM

I wont fully defend the mechanic because im not a fan of on death effects but the "exploding crystals on death" AN mod makes very distinctive 'plink plink plink' sounds as crystals are summoned at your feet from hitting the enemy. You get a second to run away after the killing mob too.
And the other wacky thing about the mod is its actually equal parts cold, fire and lightning damage. The purple color of the crystals is a huge bait for indicating what type of damage it deals. |

I thought it was chaos damage which makes it worse that I died to a mob that I could have afk'd stood still in the middle of after 1 leech proc.
I know you can hear it but when I activate the mob all I hear is the initial harvest sound, bam bam bam shout bam bam bam shout from my earth shatter : / the mob died quickly. It still stands its just a cheap and awful idea to implement. |

I mean I agree its a garbage mechanic in a game that has long since lost any form of visual clarity. Was just trying to help a bit if you unaware of how the full mechanic worked.

I was playing Storm Rain, which if anyone has played it. It's total cluster lightning.
You can hardly use visuals, esp ground visuals to depend on. I don't think I've ever actually seen the crystals this league or heard them. I just miss them because I'm an archer and moving. The guy that died had amazing defense, and nothing else in the game is as rippy as these things, which definitely are unavoidable quite often. It forces people to build max suppression recovery on hit as a defensive layer, no matter whatever other layers you got. You can see my mana guardian takes quite a bit of damage also, and that I hit vaal discipline to try to help, but he was dead as it started the regen. In some situations it's incredibly hard to detect and avoid these crystals. Please remove that mechanic from the game or at least make it not oneshot even the tankiest chars. The same applies to Heralding minions.

Main problem with this (and also certain other mods, looking at you Heralding Idiots *cough*) is simply that it may 'look' totally fine in a one vs. three test environment - but your typical in-actual-game situation is one vs. thirty-something plus eightyseven-and-some bling FX plus nineteen explosions.
No, noone hears or sees this crap on time. All of these mods (Heralding Idiots, Crystal-Skinned, Lightning Monkeys, Voodoo Dolly etc. etc.) should get visually telegraphed like at the very least Hexer, preferrably Mana Siphoner - no matter what jumble of fireworks is going on, you will never miss that Big Blue Ring effect. I got lucky I saw it below the thick red bladestorm, moved as soon as I saw it but still died.
First death of my lvl 67 ruthless char. This is how you dodge this as a melee char in ruthless :

Adding my vote to removing/changing this mechanic.
Extremely dumb how subtle it can be sometimes and how quickly it wipes you -- the damage is way overtuned. edit: Adding some more info so it's not a straight qq post.. 4k hp juggernaut, and I leap slammed away as I heard it making that noise -- still it somehow insta wiped me in about .2 seconds.
