Minimap causing significant client lag

Lately I've been experiencing significant frame drops/resolution drops when opening the minimap on most areas. It's fine in smaller instances, but in normal maps it's causing me to drop from 60fps to 36fps, if I disable dynamic resolution. This wasn't happening prior to 3.20 that I noticed.

This is using the toggle map overlay, not the corner minimap.

Not even really sure what settings to turn down to stop it. Map/Landscape transparency doesn't seem to have any effect. Map Zoom does reduce the lag somewhat, when zooming in.

I did work out a temporary solution, which only raises more questions.

Adjusting my texture quality to medium, which usually then causes the game to crash - once I'm back in game, the lag issue is resolved for a while.

try this -->
1. Run packcheck.exe as "an administrator",
2. Delete the local PoE cache files here -->
C:\Users\"your windows account name"\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile\
3. Now start PoE again as "an administrator". When at the login screen, select options.
4. Now set texture to MEDIUM and Sound channels to low.
5. Login to the game and remove ALL MTX from gems and gear (if you can't login to a char, then use another one and force all the MTX to be connected to this char and then try the other one again).
6. See if the issue is resolved ?

Depending on if you use DX11, Vulcan or DX12 you could also try changing between them.
