Big Lag Issues When Others Using Internet
As the title says I have for a while been experiencing really bad lag whenever anyone else in my house is using the internet.
When nobody else is online I have about 20ms ping so the actual game connection isn't a problem. However as soon as anyone else goes online my ping skyrockets in to the 200-300s. Which as we know with POE means unplayable. This doesn't happen if I am playing different games and the connection for my family who also game a lot doesn't suffer with multiple people online. I have tried all of the regular lag troubleshooting which gets me a good ping normally but nothing works if others are online. I know for sure POE is the issue as with other games we can have 3 of us playing simultaneously without any lagging. Is there anyway to reduce this kind of lag or is it just a thing that POE does? " sorry, you have to look "closer to home" for this. Sounds like the router/modem have problems handling the "number of active sessions" generated by PoE when others use the internet. |

Is POE known to be significantly more internet hungry than other games. I live in a household of all gamers and POE is the only game that there is ever any net issues with.
Our network is more than capable of this many active users. There has to be something different about POE for it to be the only game to be doing this. I would expect a small dip in connection with other users but it really is feast or famine with POE. For it to go from perfectly smooth to 90s dial up is surely not right. |

It is definitely a POE issue. Not sure how many people it's affecting but others are reporting it in chat as well. I'm sure it'll be fixed sooner or later. Good luck.

Your PoE client is probably running in lockstep mode, this requires good consistent latency with the server while most other games run under predictive logic.
You can change PoE to predictive mode under the network settings. However you really are better off fixing your network so the latencies remain smooth. Some of the Ubiquiti routers support Smart Queuing aka FQ_Codel which is a brilliant provided it is deployed correctly solution. |

poe isn't more resource hungry than other games, the amount of data which are transfered during gameplay could be handled by a analog modem from the last millenium.
the point where ggg is more sensitive than other games, is, that it heavily depends on low latency cause everything happens on the server and the client is just displaying it. -- you can improve your situation if you got access to the router and can change in it's "quality of service" settings so that your computer is prioritised before other computers when packets need to be received or transferred. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
