Soul Eater

This mod specifically is so out of sync with how the game is actually experienced by most players that I think you may want to please take a look at it again. Something as simple as a hard cap on the number of absorbable souls is better than nothing.

1. The counter to soul eater is to change one's playstyle: target the soul eater mob specifically and bring it down fast while it is still weak.

2. This is nearly impossible in most situations because the soul eater mob is a rare: it is surrounded by a messy bunch of shit that makes it impossible to see it before it starts absorbing souls.

3. The messy bunch of shit overall feeling of POE blatantly encourages builds that clears entire screens as fast as possible without seeing what's on the ground.

4. Even boss killers these days ought to be good clearers as well because most boss fights now spawn so many adds that pew shit everywhere that it can be pretty impossible to tell where the boss is, much less what it is doing, if the build doesn't clear fast enough.

5. Basically the entire game penalises clearing slowly. Soul eater heavily penalises fast clearers who also cannot one-shot rares, which is like the vast majority of your players.

I don't know. Maybe this is exactly how you want the game to be experienced. Once in a while something comes along that runs so counter to the entire playstyle that most players have basically no way to counter it effectively. Challenges are great when players have been given the tools to use to defeat the challenge. Do you seriously think soul eater mobs count as this?

Heres an interesting idea, drag the rare away from the other weaker mobs and chunk it down. Mind blowing isn't it?
