Blade trap not leeching energy shield when supported by energy leech support

Like the title I swapped over to using Blade trap and I noticed I wasn't leeching any energy at all. The gem is supported by it and its highlighted when hovered over. Whats stopping Blade trap from leeching ES?

Traps aren't you and vice versa. It's the trap that is leeching the ES, not you.
