This don't make any sense (Trade and PoB weapon DPS)
I have a question on how damage is calculated on Trade and in PoB. I have been looking at two different staffs for a starter type of build for Glacial Hammer. One staff is a Hegemony's Era Judgement Staff.
Hegemony's Era Judgement Staff Item Level: 74 Physical Damage: 262-366 (471.0 DPS) Critical Strike Chance: 7.22% Attacks per Second: 1.50 Quality: 20 Sockets: B-R-R-G-G B LevelReq: 68 Implicits: 1 +20% Chance to Block Spell Damage while wielding a Staff Warstaff +6% Chance to Block Attack Damage while wielding a Staff Adds 145 to 169 Physical Damage 15% increased Attack Speed 11% increased Critical Strike Chance +1 to Maximum Power Charges 10% chance to gain a Power Charge if you Knock an Enemy Back with Melee Damage The other staff, Bramble Spire Ezomyte Staff Physical Damage: 145-400 (433.3 DPS) Critical Strike Chance 9.56% Attacks Per Second: 1.59 Item Level: 83 Quality: 0 Sockets: R-R-B-G R R LevelReq: 60 Implicits: 1 +20% Chance to Block Attack Damage while wielding a Staff Warstaff 101% increased Physical Damage Adds 19 to 39 Physical Damage 27% increased Attack Speed 31% increased Critical Strike Chance +85 to maximum Mana Gain 1 Mana per Enemy Killed Corrupted So both PoB and PoE Trade list these staffs DPS as shown above (471 and 433.3 dps). So why does the Ezomyte staff with with higher Physical Damage, Crit, and APS have lower DPS on Trade and in PoB than the Hegemony, yet have over 100k higher dps in PoB when I actually equip the Ezomyte staff? The DPS displayed is simply the weapon itself. It only factors in the damage and attack speed of the weapon.
262-366 is an average hit of 314, times 1.5 attacks per second, yields 471 dps. 145-400 is an average hit of 272.5, times 1.59 attacks per second, yields ~433 dps. The Ezomyte Staff has a higher max hit, but also a lower min hit, so it does less damage per hit on average. Crit chance bonuses on the weapon itself add to the base crit that the rest of your bonuses will work with though, so the higher crit chance is adding more to your end DPS than the extra power charge that Hedgemony's Era grants. |

" Ah, I was wondering if that was the case. In most other games I've played all of the weapons stats effected it's DPS. So Crit and APS were part of it's over all DPS. Well thankyou, know I know I can pretty much ignore the weapon DPS. I don't know why DPS is listed then. |

" Well, you don't need to ignore it. You just need to realise it is not the *only* factor to consider when calculating your overall DPS. |
