SSF HC R Sanctum end floor boss opinion
So I just ran the last boss in ruthless...
Stats: My char: 27 lvl DPS: 600dps double flame totems + 800 dps searing bond (+50% more dmg from relic) HP: doesnt matter in Sanctum obviously Armor + Res: doesnt matter in Sanctum obviously Sanctum lvl 17: 500 resolve in end boss (due to 50% recovery of resolve when entering boss areas) and + 200 max resolve -30% boss dmg / health not really any bad affiction, only no coins from chests, -20 coins for every hit, that doesnt really matter since I recovered 25% every fountain for 5 coins that I dropped from monsters some faster trap shiet and more damage to resolve from traps which I avoided because those traps are awfully boring (3 times same trap mechanic on multiple rooms on last floor) So I go to the final boss, every boss since then was walk in the park since I had taunt for 1 sec when casting Totems.. that worked for every boss since the last boss But the last boss. Man. I can imagine beating it if you would have any movement skill. He basically went after my totems but he cast one frickin spell that perma knocked me and stunned me and I went from 500 to 0 resolve in 1-1,5 second basically. I know it was my first time and I might screw it up being in a wrong place (I was the farthest I could). But doing 32 floors only to be killed from 1 mistake (if it was a mistake at all) seems little harsh to me. So I lost motivation doing Sanctum. From 32 floors I got 3 relics (2x 4% chance to drop double coins and 1x 25 inspiration on start on every floor NICE). I got like 3-4 orbs, not higher than chance and 2-3 yellows combined from bosses. When I ran fellshrine maps I got this from 2 maybe 3 runs which took me like 10 minutes. The full sanctum run with getting the rooms on maps took me like 2,5 - 3 hours from lvl 14-17 maps. So what is the purpose of the Sanctum exactly? Is the final boss reward, the perma relic so useful to do those painfully long and useless runs or it just supposed to be fun? Because it is not. I cast totems, hide far away off screen and even then I'm scared of every point of resolve because the monsters can hit you off screens and beyond walls. It's super stressful for me. I know it's a ruthless and I love playing ruthless, but I also would like to play some league content finally and be rewarded for it (or at least not be scared as shiet from every hit). Yeah Ruthless and League Mechanic are not friends.
~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.

Then don't play ruthless sanctum? It's not supposed to be easy. Like you said "you know its ruthless"

Yup... pretty sure we give up the right to complain about stuff like this. They can't adjust their development cycle to cater to Ruthless play... yet. They're still working on getting it tuned. Stuff that's normally geared to be "somewhat hard" is going to be silly to try in Ruthless.
We need to focus their attention on making Ruthless a viable style of play and not focus on convincing them that they should designing their game to suit us. If they did, the regular modes would be a joke. Last edited by Shagsbeard#3964 on Dec 16, 2022, 11:36:36 AM

" But the thing is I love league content. Otherwise it's just a standard poe with harder environment. The Sanctum mechanic is something I would get used to it. But the last boss should be somehow changed because it was made for normal game with movement skills. Ruthless is basically test and I know it. That's why I write opinions because devs could do something about it like they say they would read and listen. |

But they shouldn't. They shouldn't listen to people who don't understand what they're asking for. Ruthless isn't supposed to be the regular mode. There's things you wont be able to do. They're there if you want to try. You don't have to even try. Don't think they can design something that would be fun and challenging to a player in Ruthless AND be fun and challenging to a player in the regular league. They can't. It can't be done. They know that. They've said that they wont be designing encounters to suit Ruthless players.
The core game is there if you want to play it. Go for it. Just don't expect them to make Ruthless into the standard mode of play. |

" What you say is if there is a change to some mechanic that will do something good for ruthless it will do something bad for regular play. I agree. But I talk about ruthless being implemented into game as a another game mode and should be treated like that. We now have something that is unique for ruthless (many things nerfed or disabled) so why they could not change league content to be little different in ruthless from regular mode and actually doable? Because now pretty much every second player skip the league content and this will be death to ruthless because the league content is the main thing poe has returning players. Not because it's fresh start but mainly because there are new things to do. Would you play the same thing over and over again for years? I would not if there is not anything new. I agree with the endgame not being doable or by 000,1% of players and I'm not talking about that either. But the main thing of every league should be playable with a good gameplay. This is problem of Sanctum league mechanic, not Ruthless. And again this league is only test and I don't believe they would make something like ruthless while ignoring the essential part of Poe. No it shouldn't. We have a differnce of opinion there. Ruthless shouldn't take away from their development of the core game nor influence it.

" Ok so Sanctum league is well balanced. That's why no one is basically playing it in regular modes as well :) Oh sorry I didn't know I was talking to a Standard player only. Now it all makes sense. Good thing you are not a developer. The game would be dead in 2014 if they didn't care about player opinions. Last edited by lukaskodlos#7714 on Dec 16, 2022, 8:03:33 PM

Learn to position yourself. I've done the last boss quite successfully without using movement skill (I was using withering step to wither the boss before attacking, so movement skill was always on cooldown, and attacking cancelled withering step).
