Ngamahu's Flame Axe and Volcanic Fissure

Does Ngamahu's Flame work with the new volcanic fissure skill?
If so, does the effect work from afar or up close when attacking monsters,
after all, vf is a skill that also attacks from a distance,
I would be grateful for information.
