New passive tree Melee Splash

Has there been any info about does the splash damage deal reduced damage to non main targets like melee splash support (50-41% less Damage to surrounding targets) does?

I really think it goes without saying.

What I'm more curious about, is the area. The Support Gem has a scaling MORE multiplier on area. If the tree version has only the "basic" area and the same less damage multiplier, we have been screwed.

I mean would it be unbalanced if the passive DIDN'T have damage nerf? Melee has been bad for longest time, maybe literally forever, so it might be time to get some good melee passives.
Going by what's on the tree, it's generic splash like Slayer used to have. It doesn't scale the damage or AoE.

But what is "generic splash damage"? Do we even know? What's the area? What's the less multiplier? Does it scale with (melee) AoE? Is it close to Melee Splash Support level 1?

It's functionally the same as the support gem but without any of the damage or AoE scaling mods on it. You do single target damage to surrounding enemies, on hits will apply to each enemy hit, etc. And the base area is likely the same as a 0q level 1 splash gem before it starts scaling AoE. Either 12 or 14 units, I think.

I hope this is more clear now.

The radius is 14 units, splash deals AoE damage, thus is scalable with AoE and area damage mods. Note that initial hits stay non-AoE. The mechanical difference is that the melee support gives an area property to supported strikes so they can be further supported by area-only (restricted) gems.
E.g. the mastery won't allow you to support Heavy Strike with Concentrated Effect.

Basically paraphrased the wiki, do not applaud me.

Yep!

"Generic Splash Damage" does not have a less multiplier, as that is apparently a stat belonging to the support gem?

Correct.

That's all the node has. No modifiers to AoE. No modifiers to damage.

It is something to get a little clarity on, while it might say nothing I doubt it's a 100% splash.

That would be amazing for any strike skill for free full splash, and how would it react with the gem too, would you get a double splash?
