Mapping plot feels weaker to me than the plot of several versions ago.

I'm not gonna manage to finish plot, not enough time and other things keeping my busy; but so far I've found the plot in mapping to be considerably weaker/less interesting than it was back 5-10 versions ago when it was about those atlas conqueror warlords.

This feels like it might be part of a larger pattern, wherein recent content has had very weak plotting, whereas back even a couple years ago, while I might not have liked a league, I felt the plot in it was at least passable and often fairly interesting. It's like whoever was in charge of adding flavor left, and their replacement is an incompetent hack.
