Left ring / right ring question

Stupid question I know, but I've got this ring that I'm using with a Doryani's / Mahuxotl build, so I can't have anything that says X% damage as anything other than fire or chaos

I want this in my LEFT ring slot so the damage is taken as fire

Which is left? My characters left ring slot, or the left side of the character screen slot?
