Call of the Brotherhood conversion question

If using 2x Call of the Brotherhood rings to convert 100% of lightning to Cold, does that in itself add extra damage? Is there some kind of double dipping going on there?

I thought in order to double dip, it had to say % of X damage as EXTRA damage

Why do so many people say Call of the Brotherhood is a huge damage boost?

2x Call on its own converts at most 96%, not 100% (unless you have legacy ones). The act of conversion itself doesn't bestow any bonus damage. But if you have things that grant say "increased elemental damage," that will give it once to the damage while it is lightning, convert, then give it AGAIN to the resulting damage that is cold.

I do have legacy rings, so if I convert 100% lightning to cold, then I'm looking for modifiers like % added elemental damage and % added lightning damage correct?

Both of those will double dip on the damage?

But something like added Spell damage would not right?
It also allows you take advantage of more types of increased damage. Like the increased cold and lightning damage from nebulis.

Added lightning won't double dip. To double dip, your mods need to affect both lightning and cold.

Pretty sure this isn't true, the only stat that counts at every step is the elemental damage as chaos or non-chaos as chaos which both take a chunk from each conversion type.

If it worked as you suggested EO would give you 40% more damage just for converting ontop of its original bonus which would make conversion mandatory for its cost just as an example.

That would be absolutely ludicrous for anything that started as phys.

correct!

Dont forget, that even one ring will allow you to freeze enemies.

The Damage combo is nebulis + call of the brotherhood + 90 max res.

90 max res with this weapon gives 2 separate dmg inreases:

up to 300% increased cold dmg
up to 300% increased lightning dmg

This also means, that flat lightning damage is better than flat cold damage, because but it doesnt matter what kind of %increased damage you take.

i think there is also the whole eternity shroud archtype for these kind of conversion builds. Maybe thats also still a thing in standard :P

My bad, that was the one I was thinking of. Brain fart there.
All good mate Just didn't want the OP stacking elemental damage then being like why isn't this super strong lmao

I did, just to experiment, and it wasn't strong at all :)

So yes you're correct, elemental damage doesn't double dip. If it did, I surely would have noticed an extra 175% damage, but it sucked really bad
