SG server is one of the worst if not the worst server
Heh yeah...ok now I am confused.
I realize that GGG doesn't have tech support, and when you email them at support@grindingggear.com, they will tell you the same thing. But please do email them. Tell them you are connecting to the SG server and it appears that your traffic is being routed through Amsterdam. Ask them to send this up to the network team. Send them both of those traces so the network team can see what the heck is going on. It makes zero sense to me... I *could* be reading your trace wrong, but I really don't think that I am. From what I see, it looks like you go from your Philippines telephone nodes (pltd) right over to Amsterdam, which make absolutely ZERO sense. Usually, the naming conventions with network layer - you look at the last grouping of letters (ae5.cbs02.eq01.ams02) which here would indicate Amsterdam since ams02 is Amsterdam. If there is something going on with their providers routing, this will help GGG out. Again, they are going to tell you that they don't have tech support and to post it here, but at least by asking them to forward this to their network crew, you may have a chance of something getting fixed. I am befuddled right now. I really don't know what's going on :/ "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. Another program you could try would be Ping Plotter to run a trace. It may give a different set of server names. At worst, it will just verify that something is mucked up.

i ran a reverse ip lookup on the url you did the winMTR against and it said the location is in the usa.
https://www.ip-lookup.org/location/98.08.caa1.ip4.static.sl-reverse.com it's likely you're using a vpn software (and likely forgot about it). it will encrypt and route any internet traffic through that host in the US. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

I saw that as well vio. I just don't know HOW traffic can skip straight from the Philippines to Amsterdam though, which also makes zero sense.
Any thoughts vio? I have to run, real life and food is calling. But I will check back here soonish. Yeah, completely at a loss here.
Email support. I know they won't say anything but something is screwed up here and I have no idea what it is. Also may want to mention that even though you are connecting to the SG realm, your trace says California, for whatever reason as well. Imagine blitzing through maps for a couple of hours trying to get to 100 from 99 on SSF, only to suddenly get a huge ass lag spike and get bombarded by a magma barrier rare mob, losing all those hours of progress and even more.
Sorry that just happened and Im now incredibly annoyed and had to whine. In a game that has gotten increasingly punishing these couple of patches, trying to not get screwed over by archnemesis rares and then getting done in by lag feels real bad. |
