is 56% reduced lightning damage protecting me or saying I deal less damage?

how good is -57 lightning damage taken from hits?

playing absolution build with Doryani's. I'm CI so alot of the tricks I can't use to change lightning to other sources. do have a good avian twins ammy.

With the one ring you deal less damage and take a crap ton of Lightning damage b/c of the -121 resistance.
Not sure how much the -57 would mitigate (at work so can't PoB)

56% reduced lightning damage means you do less damage with your lightning hits.

But since you are absolution, it doesnt really matter. It doesnt impact your minions.

-57 damage taken from hits is nothing, its not helping.

You would have to take 100 hits for it to add up to your life bar.

Everything dangerous is doing thousands of damage. The -57 is meaningless. The only situation where it is possible relevant is where for some reason you are taking dozens of tiny hits per second. Not 10 or 15 but dozens per second, then it would add up.

More armor will help, or finding a way to fit a molten shell in your setup.

the ruby ring says

"56% reduced lightning damage"

it does not say reduced damage *TAKEN*

this means you DEAL 56% reduced lightning damage.
