Gray,blue,yellow map xp outcome
Hello again...
With my very first character here I'm level 98. I really want to make it to 99, so I really, REALLY don't want to die for a while. My question is therefore: Does making a given map rare with an alchemy orb and thus giving it a lot of potentially leathal mods increase the XP I get from it (provided I DON'T die of course lol)? One guy told me no, it only influences the loot, one said yes, since the harder the map the more XP you get and yet another said it doesn't increase the XP per monster killed, but rare maps have more monsters, so indirectly you get more for the map since there is simply more to kill... What is correct? Last bumped on Sep 30, 2022, 3:03:18 PM

Alchemy orbs generate more mobs (pack size) and you will see more Rares, which, especially with AN mobs, will be more dangerous.
If you want a safer approach run the maps using transmutation orbs and make them a bit harder instead of a lot harder. The difficulty level is also relative to your character's strength. I have never made it past 95 myself :) There are other methods in Trade league such as Breachstone parties and Poorjoy maps. ~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums. XP per map is based on a couple of things.
1 - map tier. tier 16 maps all have the same monster level (83 for normal, 84 for magic, 85 for rare + unique monsters) 2 - type of monster (some monsters are just worth more xp than others) 3 - number of monsters per map, including pack size A map being Rare does not affect point 1 or 2. it ONLY affects number 3. so, a rare map will be worth more xp than a magic/normal map, because it has MORE monsters per pack, including magic + rare monster packs. if you want safe mapping, go ahead and use transmutes + alterations to roll 2 mods that dont matter to your build. But nothing can prevent a random 4 mod archnem from spawning and possibly blasting you. |

man you are fast !!
Yeah, the tactic to just make the maps magic and then change the mod until I get a really nice one is the one I've been employing lately, I just wanted to be sure... I hope you are not yet tired of reading this: Thanks a lot!! |
