"Cast Level 20 Fire Burst on Hit" Mod never procs when on weapon with Triggerable implicit modifier

The only example I have found of this, is if you craft a Infernal Blade Runic Dagger, which has the implicit modifier "Trigger Level 20-30 Flame Dash when you use a Socketed Skill" with a essence of hysteria, which gives the "Trigger level 20 Fire Bust" modifier.

The Trigger for the lvl 20 Fire Bust will NEVER be procted under any circumstance that I have found. Making the mod bugged / unless.

Here is an example of the kind of weapon you need to test this bug:

NOTE: The only important parts are the weapon base (since it need the imp mod) and the Level 20 Fire Burst on Hit modifier.

Expected Behavior: The mod works as intended and the level 20 Flame Burst is triggered on hits.

Results: The level 20 Flame Burst ability to proc is somehow nigated by the weapons implicit modifier.

fire burst is not a socketed skill, so it doesn't have 2 triggers on it by default. So the weapon implicit should not be disabling this.

OP what gems are you putting in the weapon? Make sure there are no trigger gems.

As per OPs profile they are using a Bodyswap ignite setup socketed in another weapon of the same base type + The Squire.

The double trigger catch net is also wider when it comes to item-provided triggers, compare to The Devouring Diadem which will disable any other trigger setup in the hat, despite the item-provided trigger not being related to any socketed skills.

Hi, yeah. You are correct it Fire Bust is literally a global on hit trigger. (Apologies if I misstated that anywhere) So it should still work, but it does not if you craft on a Infernal Dagger. I tried with support gems and w/o it makes no difference. The "Cast Level 20 Fire Burst on Hit" seems to just break only crafted on that weapon base.

Note: If someone wants to borrow the base with the mod on it to test you are welcome to. I gave it to two other friends they could not proc it. Change the base and you can proc with anything. Even just base melee hits.
i checked your profile, you have body swap, wich is a movement skill, do they share the cooldown?
Not sure what you are asking. Does Body Swap share a cooldown with the triggerable Flame Dash? Answer is No.

But it has nothing to do with the bug really. I unequipped everything and tried using at least 10 different skills.

You can test it just by putting the flame burst mod on an infernal dagger. and just doing a melee hit with any character. All hits should proc flame burst. But it does not just from this one item base. (I haven't tired all bases to be fair, but this is the only one I know of)
The implicit has a hidden mod "ModSocketedSkillsTriggerGrantedSkill"

Which in turn supported also the Fire Burst which in turn , "turn-off" the global hit trigger criterion , and "should" only trigger with using socketed gem instead


Just don't craft the essence mod on weapon with granted trigger skill, or wait the dev raise this bug to more higher priority (it exists since circa heist league ) and rework the implicit to grant a special version of Flame Dash skill, instead of "Flame Dash + hidden "ModSocketedSkillsTriggerGrantedSkill" Support)

Thanks, this makes perfect sense. Sadly I was planning on double dipping the supports for flame dash with fire burst with squire shield. So I don't have another place I can craft it. But it is nice to know it is for sure a bug, and maybe GGG will get to it at some point.

I am sure it is probably a decently easy fix. Your idea seems like it would work to me.
