Skill effect duration and Poison

I see many Poison builds stacking Wicked Ball with 5% skill effect duration. Doesn't Poison rely on Damaging Aliment duration and not Skoll effect duration?

If so, does Skill Effect duration improves Flask duration? Probably not?

Maybe Skill effect duration buff affects everything from temporary aura buff, charge buffs, poison, ignite, aliment duration?

I am asking this because I took 10% Poison damage faster and I don't want my damage to be too low against bosses. I also find that end bosses tend to jump around in different stages and every time they do, they get rid of the poison stacks.


Wicked Ball cluster jewel is also more expensive.

I can only clarify mechanics since I don't know what poison builds you mean.

Ailments are not skill effects and don't benefit from skill effect duration modifiers. Unless ailments come from skills that inherently override their duration (Viper Strike, Puncture), in this case appropriate ailments count as skill effects.

Flasks and charges – no. Temporary auras (Vaal, Blessings) are skill effects, so yes. Skill is the key word here.

Compare Arcane Surge buff from "#% chance to gain Arcane Surge when you Kill an Enemy" stat and Arcane Surge buff from a skill supported Arcane Surge gem. The former comes from your character stat and is not skill effect, thus is not affected. The latter comes from a skill and is a skill effect, since support gems apply properties directly to skills they support. This Arcane Surge will be affected.

Even after the nerf, "#% increased Duration of Ailments you inflict while Focused" mod has decent values and probably will help.
ok. I was reading some builds and they stack Wicked Ball so I thought maybe skill effect improves Toxic Rain. Why are they stacking skill effect for toxic rain? So the pods stay on the ground longer?
Skill effect "duration" affect any "skill" something you cast. Anything that do with a duration on that skill

Toxic rain leave pod that does damage overtime. Skill duration increase the time those pod stay and overall the total dot damage coming from the pod.
so it's almost like laying down all the Traps (toxic pods) before they explode. lol
