BSOD and Freezes - ati3duag.dll - ETA on fixing AMD Problems?
Since 1.0.5 Patch i get frequent game freezes and BSOD claiming to have a problem within ati3duag.dll.
This only happens when in a party and therefore the game shutters like crazy as usual. This didn't happen before and this also doesn't happen in other Games. I know that the game has problems with AMD Cards, since it runs poorly on all of them, but now even BSODs occur, this is not tolerable anymore. I'd really like to get a response from a Staffmember when they are going to fix these serious problems with AMD cards. There are several threads with over 20 pages, and still there is no information about it from official site, besides "we know" (and obviously don't care). Yes this is a rage post, which might get me an infraction, but i'm really pissed about the fact that these problems are silenced to death. In case any Dev cares: ati3duag.dll triggers the bsod Win XP Sp3 AMD HD6570 2GB - Catalyst 13.1 (I have already disabled sound because, since i play PoE, the Creative Bug was never fixed, it seems. So this is not the reason for the bsod) IGN: Darkrox (not my main, just for easy contact) ~ Yes i'm the Darkrox from Runes of Magic - World's #1 Guild Pravum 2009 - 2011 ~ Last edited by Darkrox#0968 on Apr 13, 2013, 9:22:45 AM

just because they say "We know" and you don't see any progress being made on it, doesn't mean they aren't actively attempting to track down the problem and get it fixed.
Sometimes problems like these are really hard to debug and fix. A lot of times, bugs like these require specific combinations of hardware to be able to diagnose, and even then it can be super difficult to do. While I understand your frustration and you want to play, you have to remember that it is still a beta and might not work for everyone yet. That doesn't mean they don't value your testing and input, because it is your input that allows them to find these problems and fix them. A lot of threads are more technical and it is sometimes up to the users to diagnose issues and get them resolved. This is the case for the Linux Wine thread. Wine has had issues with this game in the past, but the community helped figure out what was wrong and got patches made to fix the problems. I know that isn't the case for Windows PCs, but it is technical knowledge like that which assists the developers into finding and fixing the problem. There is also a possibility they'll need to work closely with AMD to get new drivers made to enable the game aspects that are having issues, or other things. While that's probably unlikely, it's not out of the realm of possibility. For now, you'll just have to trust them that they know about the issues and are working to resolve them. |

You might be right and i don't doubt that there is a serious problem that maybe requires AMD's help (since there must be smth wrong with the AMD cards support, due to the huge difference of particle render speed on comparable AMD and Nvidia cards).
Anyway: There is no information at all about the status of the fixing. I'd be happy for now to read smth like "We are now working with AMD to resolve the serious problems PoE has with AMD cards". But we get nothing, the matter is just silenced to death, and that is what enrages me (despite the fact that i lost like 5 levels of exp in the past week, due to the bluescreens mentioned). btw: I've send minidumps including all the information you can get from the bluescreens via email. So it's not that i just complain, without contributing. " I didn't assume you were just complaining =] And it is very helpful to send the dumps to them. Hopefully they can use them to track down the issue. Although you have to keep in mind that in some cases, BSOD is a result of hardware/driver failures.. it is rare for software directly to cause them unless they trigger something within the hardware/drivers to do it. It's not impossible, but it is indeed rare. As a side note, have you attempted upgrading to the latest driver version, or if you're on the latest driver version have you attempted rolling back to a couple of different prior versions? see if they make any difference? |

Yeah i've done nearly anything possible already.
Since it only happens in groups and when a lot is going on, i think it's some kind of overlow problem. PoE has huge problems with AMD cards in terms of particle rendering speed, so i think it has smth to do with that. As far as the dumps go, problem seems to be that the graphicscard stops responding at a certain point - it's no overheating issue though.
