Strongbox - Ice Nova

I personally would prefer a slight nerf to the damage or penetration ( I guess they have pen since they are pretty heavy) of Ice Nova strongboxes. There are a few occasions and mod combinations that make it impossible to get far enough to avoid them and the Ice Nova hits really hard in comparison with other aoe dmg mechanics.

I am researching about my problem (and also my partier) which same as you.
Both of us have cold res 81%, full life (about 3900 hp) and both die 1 shot by Strongbox Ice Nova. Then, I equipped Petrified Blood (life reserved, life amount 48%) and still die 1-shot. I have searching another problem: why Ice Nova can bypass Petrified Blood..! |

" Most people (on reddit as well) don't really know what they are talking about. Defense does matter a lot. I don't even notice ice nova on my builds, only strong box mod i am worried about is CE. If you have less than 4k life with only slightly above minimum mitigation plus most likely altars/damage mods on your map then it's no wonder you almost die from it. Doesn't oneshot me, but i have 15 500 ES. Could still occasionally die to detonates nearby corpses though. Strongbox is a rippy mechanic, so rippy that you build a muscle memory to flame dash away the moment you click it.

I spent all last league without even using a Frozen cure flask (because AN aren't dangerous unless you hit them). I just ate those frozen novas and stood there then dashed out and vaporized.

they can be quite deadly if certain mods are on map/box, if you are cursed and resistances reduced, etc, if you have a 'players take increased cold damage' sextant active, etc. Increased level of box seems to make it do quite a lot of dmg too.

That's weird, my coc char has poor damage mitigation, relying on manual evade instead, yet strongbox ice nova is the least thing bothering me, cannot remember ever dying to it. Sometimes it can hit me into low life, but detonate corpse boxes are much more scary, because you cannot see where will it spread if you didn't shatter all corpses there in time.
