Is it possible for an item to roll over 6L or have a bug to not 6L?
Didn't want to put this in 'bug reports' because I know it's probably unlikely to be one, but I want to ease my mind lol.
I know I'm *probably* just insanely unlucky, but given how many things were tweaked lately I just wanna make sure because I'm actually getting my mood kinda ruined with this. I would have been better off using the crafting bench by far at this point, I know I know, but still... Anyway, because there's not a lot of meta crafts right now, I was trying to make my own chest for once. I made one I'm actually pretty happy with for what I was looking for, but it wasn't on a 6L base. Kind of my fault I guess but I have the currency to buy good amounts of fusings and my build is already strong to farm maps, so I wasn't too stressed about it. Figured I'd hopefully get lucky, or be a little unlucky and take slightly more. Well, I'm now over 3.5k fusings now with no luck.... In all my years of playing I've never had luck this bad with fusing a 6L lol. I know that while it's statistically improbable to need to spend this many, it still isn't -impossible-... but... oof. I was just wondering if there's ever been a bug, or could be a bug, where an item doesn't 6L? Or if they raised the rate of fusings it takes on average? And if I am just *that* unlucky, it sucks because now that I've invested so many that *another* 1500 feels like a waste for the guaranteed, but I'm scared I'll still end up spending more than that lol. Anyone else want to share fusing horror stories? Share the suffering. I've learned my lesson though, will craft on a 6L base next time (I've had it since early on though and uncorrupted 6L bases I wanted were fairly uncommon). Last bumped on Sep 7, 2022, 7:55:46 PM

Just unlucky. I blew through 2k fuses on a Covenant with nothing to show for it this league. Ended up just paying the 1,500 fuse fee to be done with it. That's the way the RNG goes sometimes.
3.5k is like losing 6 coin flips in a row. Not common but it will happen to somebody. |

You havent felt true pain until you sink 5k+ into something without 6 linking. My rule is to always buy 6 linked or just pay the 1500 fee to avoid crappy rng.

Yeah as mentioned, you're unlucky, but not insanely so. Such is the problem with high variance random events: a long, thick tail of failures past the median success.

ive gone over 6k trying to link. i've also gotten 6L in just 3. rng gonna rng.

" Oof. That hurts. And to the other guy, yeah I know normally you can't roll over a 6L because it tells you it has max links already, but I was starting to feel crazy that's why I was framing it more as a potential bug or something (though I knew that's unlikely). Well, thanks guys for making me feel a little better with your bad luck as well. I guess I'm just getting my 2 omni drops paid out by the game in fusings instead lol. |

I assume it's qualitied (quality helps things link faster). I believe the number for a 20% quality item is about 1200 fusings, so a 1/1200 chance. With 3.5k fusings used, the chance to have not 6-linked by now is:
(1-1/1200)^3500 = 0.054 = 5.4% chance So yes, unlucky, but not really that unlucky. |

" Yeah, def 20% quality. I'm well over 3.5k now lol. I've fallen into the sunk cost fallacy, thinking the 6L link is *surely* right around the corner instead of just investing the 1500 for guaranteed lol. Sigh. |

Statistically speaking it's still better to keep trying to link it yourself. No event affects any later event, so you slamming fusings makes no less sense than it did when you first started.
Sunk cost fallacy only really applies when refusing to pull the plug on something statistically likely to cost you more than just quitting. Украина в моём сердце Last edited by kaijyuu2#0256 on Sep 7, 2022, 7:56:01 PM
