Vendor Recipe Q? - 5 Rare Items of Same

Did they get rid of this recipe?

5x Rare items of the same type = 1 Un-ID Rare item of said type.

Keep asking in-game; no response from anyone.
Tough crowd this game has...
It works I have done it, its kinda useless though.

If you find 5 desirable basetypes at a very high itemlevel, you get a free one.

If I had 5 ilvl 79 Onyx Amulet rares that all failed, I could choose to get a free reroll without the use of a Chaos Orb.

How's that useless?
i too fas fo youuuuuuu

Um because 1 ilvl 79 anything of any rarity alone is worth more than a chaos let alone an onyx amulet and 5 of them. :S

Well in that case perhaps, but still seems to me you might rather have the 5 onyx to chaos - or at low levels get some alc/alt fragments. If it was closer to three or four items instead of five I would tend to agree though.

on the topic, does anyone know the item level of the created item?

is it an average of the 5 items sold,or based on something else?

The item level of the resulting item is equal to the lowest item used in the recipe.
its a great recipe when you start doing maps, I was alching every applicable belt/ring/amulet and rolling the 5 each time for the freebie as 1 alch/chaos > 2 alteration orbs.

Good for 66-70 gear with getting chaos resist etc. not so useful at lower levels since the lowest ilvl item is probably quite a bit lower than you given how fast you level, and not so useful at high levels currently due to overall rareness of ilvl 78/79 gear due to map rarity.

lets say you have ilvl 79 items, 5 of them such as vaal regalia, it isn't worth your time to sell 5 of them for 1 ilvl 79, because you can simply sell those ilvl 79 for over 3 chaos anyways, 4x3= 12 chaos, and its a lot better to just use 12 chaos instead of waste 4 other rares that can sell for (lets say 3 chaos for now as last time i bought craft item it was like that.)

so this recipe is quite useless if ur crafting high ilvl stuff, but this recipe is rather more useful for ilvl 63-70 (as those craft items dont sell anyways).

I've tried it with rings. Its easy to save up a pile of them. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be worth it.
