I don't think this is true. I think the one oversight they made was overlooking the divine vessel recipe. But they knew the impact this had and even stated in the video that this is going to be a clear shakeup of the economy. That's why they also nerfed unique item drop rates. Perfectly rolled low tier unique are going to so rare because no one is divine spamming them that they are actually going to be worth trading. Things like Abyssus, or Rythlathsa's coil where you really need to divine them to make sure the negative mods are as minimal as possible. So yes, this is going to really shake up the economy just like they planned. People will cry and eventually get used to it. There's now a whole new currency strat posssible by farming unique items and Id'ing for good rolls.

What was wrong with the economy that they felt like they had to force this change? I don't get it, other than they seem to be determined to be as annoying as possible.

I've never seen a gaming company try so hard to make me hate their game & move on to something else.

Nothing has to be wrong to make changes. They felt like it didn't match the vision they had, so they changed it. If you don't like the new vision, vote with your wallet and don't play. They don't care about you personally. They care about making a game that fits the vision they want. And they don't like the current state divine orbs are in. They don't care about the economy. They want unique item drops to be more important than just farming corrupted 6 links and re-rolling your unique item. They don't like that exalted orbs are just traded as currency and meta crafting. So they changed it because it they don't like it. And if you don't like it, you stop playing. If enough people don't like it, then the game either dies, or they reevaluate the change and fix it moving forward.

Yup, PoE in a nutshell.

This, pretty much. And that is what they want.
GGG has always been about kicking out the casusals despite their wallets and keep only the whales who will pay for uniques and div cards.

The problem with keeping to 'your' vision is that suddenly it's only YOU following the vision while everyone else walks away.

Just look at Blockbuster video... they stuck to their vision and laughed at that tiny little upstart Netflix...
Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive.
Patch Notes 3.19:
Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment.

People aren't going to quit playing PoE because they changed the use and drop rate of exalts and divine orbs... holy crap do people really like making things way more dramatic than they are. Casual players aren't doing insane meta crafting and perfect divine chasing mirror tier items. Casual players aren't 6 man party farming Brother's Stash for 20 hours a day at league start to get 10 mirrors in week one. Casual players are the ones running endless heist and collecting divine vessels and low tier unique items to sell on the market. Casual players will be the ones buying mid-high end items while the elite tier players buy divines to do their min/max builds. This is not going to be as serious an issue as people are making it seem like. The biggest QoL change is we no longer can do trades in shards, as there is no divine shard. So you have to use chaos orbs to fill in the values.

Those "flaws" you are talking about (and listed several timnes on this Forum) for A LOT of people are the opposite.

Because GGG wraped up those flaws very well and presented them as buffs. Some players will find out the truth only after a week or two in a league, sadly. They are trying to avoid 3.15 launch 2.0. Everything to push those day 1-3 numbers - even crappy twitch drops at launch rofl, even clickbate league name - so jebated moves...
3.13 Was the best league ever!
3.18 Rest in peace my beloved recombinators, I'm gonna miss you...

Or because they dont give a flying f. about those so called flaws because it affects only the top 0.1% crafters who make items wortht more than entire build of avarage person here.
I already told you, most people in here consider 20ex build to be "high budget". IIRC you are one who said 200ex items are mid level of investment.

Actually, real 0.1% will benefit heavily - this league gonna be like 3 months long birthday party for them. But guys in the range of 1-2% to 10-15% - those are screwed, crafting decent stuff = fun, farming mirror and mirroring fee = boring.

Aaand everybody else also gonna be affected by these changes. If you ain't rushing to endgame - it will impact you less, but even a total casual will have bad surprises after checking market this league...
