Its local, its called global physical damage if its the general one that applies to spells/skills.

General rule of thumb: If the mod can impact a BLANK weapon, it applies to the weapon. If it can't, it applies globally.
thanks for the responses!

I realize that I maybe should've phrased my question differently / more clearly:

if I use a (spell) skill gem in my weapon, that gem is not considered 'local' and thus unaffected by any 'phys dmg' mod on the weapon, correct?

or to phrase it from yet a different angle:

any 'phys dmg' mod on a weapon will not have any effect on any spell(s), yes?

thanks again!

Local in this context means "to the item". Increased physical damage-mods on weapons (or increased armour/evasion/energy shield on an armour) only affect that item.

As draegnar mentioned, if there would be a "global physical damage"-mod on a weapon (or anywhere), it would affect (physical) spells as well (not that there is such a weapon i know of tbh, but rather take that as a rule of thumb lol).

got it.

thanks again! :-)
