delete maven
even using a toon geared out with legacy equipment, watching videos, and trying dozens of fucking times in various leagues and even standard... i cant kill this bitch. i might not be a 'streamer tier' player but i have been playing video games for 30 years, and have beaten many of the hardest games on the hardest modes... but this? this is just absurd.
there are two problems with the fight that absolutely ruin it. one, permanent degen. this is a TERRIBLE design decision in EVERY fight with it. when you make a mistake death is the punishment, not several. edit - and this is COMPOUNDED by the fact the balls that degen are visibly identical to the other dozens of balls on the screen at the same time. it means that having ANY control over them is down to luck that you werent looking at something else you had to dodge when they spawned. and two... the memory game. seriously ggg, WTF is the point of 'player feedback' when you give exactly ZERO SHITS about the fact that EVERYONE hates this unfun rng based 'mechanic'? especially combined with the degen BS above that everyone ALSO hates. a simple change of making the 'right' sectors simple sequence clockwise or counter clockwise would actually make this interesting and engaging. would CERTAINLY make it playable. i remember when people were complaining about sirus, and while i freely admit it is also a very not fun due to all the standing around and waiting to attack... it doesnt come anywhere NEAR the level of bullshit maven does. i never had a serious problem with sirus, even in leagues my build failed to reach the required power to fight him i never had a complaint about him. but maven... my lvl 99 slayer with a legacy starforge twice as good as the best current one, and other legacy crafted equipment, and played by a player who watched video tutorials and is, well... a gamer, cant beat her. i love a challenge, i really do. i got s rank on every boss in cuphead for example (pre dlc), but maven isnt a challenge... it is BULLSHIT. " someone else did it for him...it still counts as long as hes in there as well on topic: they purposely make bosses like maven and sirus to frustrate players and create a demand for boss kill services. the newest boss they make will be even worse than maven. " Aaaa I forgot that he teake boss kill service. I have helped some players kill some bosses a few times like sirus maven ... and some of the people I helped actually had a build that could handle these bosses without my help but I think they are playing too nervously eeee I mean lots of moves at the wrong time |

Cortex degens are worse.
With Maven (Shaper/Elder) you have at least some control, but at Cortex they constantly fill up the room until there is no space left... |

hey ggg. notice how this thread DOESNT just have a bunch of people saying 'git gud scrub'?
the sentiments expressed here are essentially universal amongst the player base. not that you give a shit. |

" Git gud implies you can do retries and get good though. In this game you get 6 portals once a day? Once a week if you are not constantly playing? Suppose you are doing map bosses and nothing else, for the invitation, thats what 100 maps? Just lol. And either your build can kill the boss, or it cannot. Most of the skill went into buildcrafting. Maybe if you are a streamer and you got your viewers/fanbois feeding you currency and keys, then you can git gud. IMO this is also the target audience for any "endgame" boss, at least when the boss is first added to the game. On topic, likely your build is not up to it despite legacy items. Slayer and starforged sounds like a semi-melee build, probably its just not viable regardless of how much power you dump into the build. To me the memory game is just the "you died" mechanic the boss has. Maybe you get an easy pattern and you live, maybe you get a bad pattern and you die. For the degen, you can put the degen someplace safe for you, since the orbs that spawn it chase you. However asking that of a build that needs to be around the boss to do dmg, or a build that doesn't do tons of dmg... is just bad. Like any other of the degen mechanics that just swamp the arena over time, its meant to filter out builds that don't "perform". Effectively killing those builds, making them unviable. Making the game less about building your own character and more about building a broken character (with the options for that shrinking each time someone showcases a broken build). “We are the race of flesh, We are the race of lovers.” Last edited by Frostride#6705 on Aug 14, 2022, 7:07:52 AM

" That's because those players are busy theorycrafting their 3.19 build instead of reading "mInIoNs aRe uNpLaYaBlE" from awful players for the 100th time this week. Maven is a very mechanical fight compared to most boss fights in PoE with no random unavoidable damage outside of the brain phase. The void balls need proper placement either in the exact middle or as far at the bottom as possible to not block the memory game. The damage of the voids do not stack. You can overlap them as much as you want. The memory game is a learning thing. I'd suggest you call the active piece out loud in steps of 3 - "top-left-top, left-right-top". Also there are certain patterns that can never happen. In regards to your character: it's fine for the fight but there's a lot that's wrong here. You're going crit but your crit is extremely low and conditional. Your movement speed during cyclone is close to negative and your only defense is a large life pool. Maven is not nearly as poorly designed as Sirus and I think the memory game is a pathetic joke.
If you're using movement skills, swap to a teleport so you can get through the degen beams without getting *touched*. This is one of their most egregious and consistent design errors. Leap slam, dash, whirling blades... they all will get you killed. |

I don't even mind much that I can't seem to beat UE or Maven, with the exception of having sextant slots and map tiers gated behind those fights. I can handle Sirus, Shaper, Elder, Exarch, and Eater of Worlds deathless (and almost never dropping to <50% HP). Also did T16 Cortex without any problems whatsoever. Of course it's those two that block Atlas completion.
