Does the blood magic modifier on this shield increase the cost of the auras in it?

Nope there is no added cost. I believe it's the best shield for people stacking auras because of the mana reduction.

You also have to realize you will be running low hp so you have to get chaos resist on every piece of gear possible because that is your worst enemy. And you also have to get every es talent point possible. Here is a link to my build and I'm still redoing more skill points into es.

I do the same, running 8 auras on my witch summoner with the help of Prism Guardian. It's really handy when a Reduced Mana gem + Prism Guardian + 10% reduction from talents reduces a 40% aura to a mere 19% (be lower if I leveled the Reduced Mana to 20 I think). I cast Haste + Purity with the Reduced Mana, then swap in Vitality for the last slot.

I really wish I could afford a certain chest piece to alleviate those chaos woes though.
