Has POE become P2W?
after 10 years into PoE i honestly can't touch it anymore... there's 0 challange, every time i setup a random build is enough to clear the endgame. To my eyes it's not p2w, it's merely a finely crafted slot machine that feeds on our pre-disposition to addiction.

"that's not making the game pay to win. don't win anything by adding more stash space. gl buying 100 stash tabs and defeating the top racers with only 4 regular tabs lol 3.26 when?
Don't abandon us. don't turn your backs on the ones loving poe. |

" Before Delirium, sure. Now there aren't any builds below 100 EX that can do absolutely 100% all content and 90% of the builds even with a Mageblood simply can't. " A lot of loaded language here with no understanding of the philosophy of it. Everything is a pre-disposition to our addictive senses. Nothing wrong with it, and you don't follow that philosophy either. You being on this board already proves that you're contradicting yourself. You not eating perfectly balanced nutritionally meals for your every meal makes you giving up to you pre-dispositions of addiction. It is, on the actual client, the China client.
The fact they have features like a goddamn combat log when we got told "that's impossible to implement" tells you all you need to know. There have been multiple publicized internal pieces from Tencent about their design philosophies. The idea they would let GGG retain PoE's "identity" is contrary to their extremely heavy handed "everything must be a gamblebot" ideology. The Chinese client is likely where most of their revenue comes from given how the Chinese market is right now for nearly all their other games, and when you consider there are indeed P2W options in it, it makes sense: we get all the player nerfing designed to make players pay more with no compensation, working as beta testers for changes they implement gameplay-wise with that market in mind, hence why no wide nerfs have been counteracted by player agency buffs for two years. Their profits increase, as the addiction cultivated through gamblebot loot systems, (seen reflected by the copium huffing GGG simping here with none of the payoff,) makes players pay harder and harder for advantages every single month, a tested and true strategy in Chinese gaming markets. When you ignore all the bull PR talk that the team gives us compared to the exact opposite design statements given during and prior to Harvest, you understand: they must fundamentally eliminate everything that doesn't encourage a gambling-like mentality in this game, and it makes no sense until you realize they make their money off alleviating this with p2w benefits on the eastern client, which has become a larger whalemarket than paltry $1k mtx packs. |

Stash tabs always were pay to win.
Are they too much pay to win? If they didn't advertise the game as "Never pay to win" I'd say no, but they are pay to win and by their own definition of how much is allowed yes they are too much. |

It always has been. It was not bad as what most people take as P2W (aka the horrible asian mmos) But even waaaaay back, you even had league challanges that you literally could not finish without paying for stashtabs(you needed to collect uniques and have them present in your stash to count). If that was not p2w then i don't know what was.
And no matter what some people say, if you want to push hard in this game. You need to fork out some money. Which honestly is still fair, since the cost of doing so is around a full priced game. But i definitely would not consider PoE a full F2P no P2W game. The F2P is more of a gimped version demo of the full game. |
