Righteous Fire and Cast when Damage Taken

So I hooked up my RF to a CWDT gem on my wardloop character just so I wouldn't have to worry about turning it on all the time. However, after a bit, I noticed that it wouldn't actually give me the buff if I do this? I'll start burning for normal righteous fire damage but I don't get the spell damage bonus. Visibly, I can see the RF aoe when I unsocket the CWDT gem but not when it's linked.

Is this a bug or intended?

Pretty sure that CWDT will not work with this kind of self inflicted DoT damage.

Edit.: Whoopsie, my bad. Misunderstood @OP post.

He wants CwDT to cast RF
I "solved" it without having to destroy a 6link by getting a level 21 version so it's not supportable by my level 20 CWDT.

Still it seems very odd to me that RF can have its degen started by CWDT but not the positive effects. It doesn't display a visible cooldown when "triggered" this way, either.
