" Agreed - obviously GGG and any company worth a damn cares about the competition but my point is I don't believe GGG is going to rush POE 2 out just because D4 launches. Chris has made it a point to say POE2 launch needs to be almost perfect which is why they are experimenting in POE1. Launching just because D4 is out completely goes against that philosophy. They have a launch date internally which of course can change since they haven't announced it but they must have enough done (could show) to feel confident to set a release date. Internally I'm guessing the plan is let D4 launch and learn from the good and the bad to hopefully avoid the same mistakes. I think the biggest challenge for GGG and POE in general is making the game interesting AFTER the new leveling experience. If we end up at maps and basically the same end game the hype will die within a year or less. I hope if POE ever "dies" and "gaem is dead" is not just a meme GGG will finally release it as a finished project (no more quarterly updates etc) with off line play and modding. I think that would be a fair way to end it with all the money so many of us fans have poured into it over the years. I could see this keeping POE alive for many additional years. If they do that I hope Chris and a small team create the hard core ultra challenging game POE was intended to be as a passion project given they would "not need the money" basically hard mode POE but with all the lessons learned since starting POE as four D2 fans. " So POE'ers agree that a rehashed endgame of maps is going to make them lose players & isn't that entertaining? All these d4 features have to do with OPEN ZONE PARTY FEATURES WITHOUT ZOOMERS, which sounds sooooooo much better than maps with zoomers. The problem is Blizzard may ruin d4 with p2w or fail some other way like how WC3 failed or how new WoW expansions fail. Or how D3 failed. Yet the D4 vision team is x10 better than the POE vision team. I mean chris still believes rolled maps & hideouts are good for party gameplay, when they are literally the opposite of what mmo party style people want. & Yes all party people are mmo players. ARPG or not, if you like parties, your probably a mmo player. Open Zones. Open Dungeons from Zones. World Bosses OUTSIDE. World pvp OUTSIDE. Endgame towns that expand. Endgame quests? Maybe. Slower Party format probably. Bigger parties party events. Maybe more skill rotation. Maybe more 1vs1 skills & not only aoe. Maybe equal melee to range skills. Maybe no uber dps op 1 boost builds. Lost Ark knockdowns & hit high skills for 1vs1 pvp, Dragons Nest dodge rolls for 1vs1 pvp. Scaling that doesn't over complicate everything else that's new. Endgame story immersion, that's not hideouts & isn't throw away maps. These are the things people should want unless they are noobs, for any ARPG for 2022. That is to say something 100 times better than Lost Ark & isn't P2W. POE has 80k people playing, they say, well their still missing like 1 million people by not getting serious with open zone features. Or a proper endgame that isn't a dead end of rolled items or lacking with exploration. Right now POE needs simple stuff like melee to range fairness & 20 new melee gems, while reediting most melee gems to be more entertaining. So POE still needs a lot of simple fine tuning stuff. Rather than just " new endgame items & league reskins " they kinda need to advance beyond that per league. Something that advances POE as a whole, per league & league reskins don't usually advance POE as a whole. Just a new mod nobody gives a hoot about for a mmorpg player, for a map thats a dead end throw away map? Meanwhile D4 is tryna get parties to explore something arpg style, do some town rp reshaping, fight a world boss with 20 people, & have many open zones to dungeons to explore. Yet D4 is a sell out business now, or blizzard is. So people don't want to support D4, they'd rather support POE's team. " Hard Mode " would split the multiplayer aspects to even worst ratios. So any isolated zone bs needs to stop being made. Same goes for how hideouts ruin immersion after Act 10. & Yes to the guy who said POE needs more than just a remixed story, some spear skills, & ui page for gems. Yes I agree. POE 2 should infiltrate the Blizzard team & see if blizzard is acing the dev feature trailer list that d4 threw out. Why wait to see how D4 is doing, tbh they don't have the time. Also POE devs don't seem to understand or nobody does, that the mmorpg market has NOTHING to offer right now & by the time it does, it won't matter. What 2 years later? 4 years later? POE devs don't seem to see that as some glorious opportunity, when it is. The keep calling POE a " NICHE GAME " when its freaking not. It's literally the best online rpg game, that exists right now, even when comparing it to other present mmorpgs. There's literally 3 games, Final Fantasy, Planetside 2, or POE. THAT'S IT. If your not playing one of those, you're not playing anything mmo related that's above average right now. So what does POE do? They keep calling this a niche game & their players keep trying to stay arpg only. It's such a bad strategy. RULE THE SCENE RULE THE MMO SCENE, THEIR ISN'T ANY OTHER MMOS TO COMPETE WITH, RULE THE SCENE. Don't wait. Get Lazy Peon to review POE 1 for a 2nd time, with good reasons to do so, aka new party features. That's what poe should be doing, ruling the damn feature list of mmorpg theme expansion, then dev overhaul of POE 1 features with a poll list asking players what they want & not just picking for the players, & POE 2 release dates. Tho ye what is the vision team for POE, more of the same stuff? They aren't ness a small team, POE's team is probably 100 times bigger than Planetside 2's team & yet PS2 just made a whole continent to explore with added water features, & new vehicles. So why is POE dishing out the same lvl of new features, compared to PS2 a studio with x100 less funds or devs. The only reason would be that many of POE team members have been working on POE 2. By the way. What POE dev played LOST ARK?!?!?! Gosh. That would be the only answer to why these forums seem so clueless, is that people, reply'ers, or devs, didn't play Lost Ark & didn't learn enough or anything from playing Lost Ark. SO MUCH was to be learned from Lost Ark. Yet what did they learn? Nothing? Go back to studying Lost Ark, then tell me what your vision is for POE 2. The devs should have played 200 Lost Ark pvp arena matches with every single class, ran all the quests to lvl 50, did the town sitting overrated dungeons, & then & only then would they know how to advance POE. After seeing what LA did well & did not so well. 100 people towns with hang out fields. Witcher taverns. Free hair style options. right after d4 launch would make most sense, d4 launch will hype up arpg genre, and as it inevitably flop because blizzard, POE 2 will collect all those new players of arpg genre
