[April 12] Initial Development Manifesto Feedback
" Hmmm... maybe the Armour system needs to be reconsidered then? The current system may be "realistic" but is it fun? There has to be a low point where some people stop complaining because it's just not worth it, and I have yet to see it. - Squeakypaw, 2013

" +1 on this, if you use a mace you already stun and you'd get no real benefit from this and you'd remain inferior wrt DPS. |

I honestly do not agree that solo players get more loot, as solo players need to dump way too much currency to roll the higher maps , they barely get the currency back. While group players have to roll much less maps.

" So that's why GGG didn't want to change the FFA looting system. They were the ninja-looters all along. |

" It depends on where you live. For USA players, Chris mentioned they have a server in Texas. If you are a East Coast player you will notice lots of desyncs (same is probably true for West Coast) while Texas players are okay. D3 has more servers in the US. They have West, Central and East coast, hence you don't notice it as often. If GGG had as much money as Blizzard they could fix this problem by throwing money at it.... Nostrademous

"Honestly, the most fun aspect of partying IS ninja-looting. When me and my cousin play together on HC over voice-chat, the most fun we have is "ninja'ing" each other, even if we "ninja" loot that dropped for ourselvers :P And the second most fun part, is the near heart-attack when one of us almost dies.. xD EA IGN: We_Have_Monk_at_Home

" Actually it kinda reminds me of Fallout 1 and 2,where armor had a threshold and would also reduce the damage by a percentage,I believe implement a invisible threshold to some armor would make it more competitive without losing its fun. This would make the hits weaker by first using applying the threshold and then later than standard reduction, would help deal with one hits kills and lucky critical hits. |

How about an on critical effect for Physical Damage, something like a crushing Blow, which crushes the Armor of Enemy, this could stack like Shocks do and reduce the Mob armor step by step all the way to zero.

Nothing regarding accuracy?
At the moment most endgame pure melee builds are ignoring this stat because Resolute Technique feels too mandatory to skip and even stacking this stat with passives/equip/support gems requires huge investment (over 3k accuracy for a mere level 60, I can't even imagine how much effort takes for an 80+ ); still, due to 95% cap hit is not guaranteed leaving the character exposed to the constant risk of missing a blow in a dire situation reducing life gain over time from life leech/life on hit, especially for a 2h and build based on slow hitting skills. Considering the fact that casters don't bother about miss this is another huge disparity that penalizes melee (choice between no crit or consistent waste of gear stats/passive points/support gems) There are many ways to address this, for example removing accuracy from the game or allowing characters to reach a solid 100% acc without much effort (considering the fact that on a melee a good part of passives/item stats are inevitably used to further increase defenses, resources that a ranged can invest elsewhere to personalize and tweak the build) but those are definitely not the only ones. |

The no on-crit effect for physical damage is really the least of the worries for scaling. The major issues lie in the ability to acquire far more flat elemental damage on gear and through auras than flat physical, which in turn scales through attack speed in a way that not only multiplies those flat bonuses, but far outstrips physical damage due to armor calculations. A massive buff to physical damage mods, both in value and ubiquity, along with a physical damage aura competitive with Anger and Wrath, are in order I think.
Also there is a fairly build-constricting issue where those who do choose to stack phys are more or less coerced into being also fire/ice hybrids due to how added fire and hatred scale. |
