Beyond Bosses Spawn Without Beyond On Maps (Answered)

As the title mentions, I have no beyond taken on my Atlas passive tree. I also have not been running beyond on maps due to leveling a character (squishy, beyond bosses kill me when they look at me). These are maps I am rolling myself and not Kirac missions.
Regardless, I keep seeing beyond bosses crop up every 5 maps or so. No idea what is causing this and all I can find in the forums are unanswered questions regarding the same topic.
