How to lessen the frustration of the average Path of Exile player

By that logic, every problem in the game can be "addressed" by telling "it could be worse, at least there are no bosses spawning in your hideout... yet" :)

"monsters invading towns" has been on their famous helloween boards. so....

but yes, the argument "it could be worse" is not really good. eventually it's a devs decision how far they want the average players to advance in the game before they give up.

and that's the main issue here: a multiplayer game with a common market is different from a single player game: single player games have no problem with 80% of the players finishing it and getting multiple copies of the most powerful items.

multiplayer games have the problem if a large playerbase is raiding the late endgame content cause they saturate the market.

Empowering the content so much so it forces all players to cap each of armor, eva, max res, block and suppression simultaneously just because someone at the top of the food chain started stacking it that way and got OP, is shitty design, not player "fuckups", players have no choice in the matter.

damage and damage mitigation usually work like the "rock, paper, scissors" game and every build should have weaknesses which players are aware of. if there are perfect builds, designers have failed.

there is a loophole though, which is "kill stuff before it hits you in the first place", ggg is currently working hard to close that gap :)

Referring to lvl 90+ gameplay, I don't remember many examples of classic rock-paper-scissors design that includes oneshots (or below human reaction time multishots) at every step of the game.

Common design is that you can choose where to focus your defenses, and endure some threats better, some worse and in this case having to spend extra time countering them directly at the time of combat with manual dodge or some area-specific interactions if provided.

PoE has no compromises: either you have all possible defenses, or you are dead with progress erased regardless of your personal skill, and at lvl 99 exp rate becomes so slow, that even veterans tend to use above-mentioned "5-wayhotbeachheadgigacarrydomainrotation" to get to 100.

This game is not about combat, it is a doll macro management simulator: build and craft stats "right", and you instaphase bosses, build "wrong" and they instaphase you.

Well, does it look like current approach managed to prevent this problem? So many people got screwed by "extensively tested" content, with negative impressions from the game, and market in Standard is well and truly saturated anyway, with people lucky enough to be around at the time of Harvest league peak just sitting in hideouts and mirroring their BiS crafted items again and again.

Official tool to duplicate any item is silly way beyond any silliness D3 itemization has, mirrors should have never been allowed in the game at all

Recently, they allowed recombinators to leak in Standard mode too, adding shiny new 5-fractured items into Standard before it got plugged. Does it look like they care about the market?
I think it would be more productive to talk about balancing monster damage stacking multipliers than to ask them to remove the xp penalty.

It is very, very unlikely that they will remove it.

Second this, very useful feedback. Hope GGG reads it.

POE 2 is designed primarily for console.
PoE has gone so far away from any "casual-friendly" game it once may have been.

A casual player may need half a league to get 300 splinters to open a simu.
And a "pro" with the right char and map and incredients put into play gets them in 1 map.
And if our casual uses the 300 splinters to open the portals, chances are pretty slim to come far enough to get any of the good drops. We had this allready with 3 guildmates that thought it was a complete waste of time and they should have sold the splinters.

Why cant i store all harvests i find on an 1c-item and sell them like we can with beasts or sextants .. why does GGG feed the "leet" TFT-folk ?

We had 1 fireball chasing .. now if you are "lucky" there are 5-10 of the new version or 10-15 chaos damage ones all spawning rapid. the spikes that follow your char did kill me at least 5 times while checking loot so far - as did the poison-balls. The groundeffects are worse than ever - had maps where little parts were not desecrated and like 90% was. Invisible damage "patches" on the ground ... insane dot cold damage ...

And now ppl need suppression and armor and damage and movement speed and block .. thats nothing you get on a budget - or a casual may be able to get at all even if he playes the whole league without a divine guide of a streamer but just playing what he likes best.

I am the last one active in our guild in this league atm ... and GGG has done very well this time to not want them to even try the game again at release of the 3.19 expansion.
