How to craft this chest?
So I found this chest. The 2 prefixes are very good (I think), giving 143 life and 8% life. And I could craft another 8% life on the 3rd slot. What should I do with this? I have no clue about crafting. Can I somehow change the suffixes? The base is not that good I think, am I correct I can try to move it to a better base with an armour recombinator? Or... uhm.... yeah, sorry, casual player here, I have no clue about crafting. Last bumped on Jun 4, 2022, 11:06:23 PM

That's actually a pretty bad piece due to bad base. The 2 prefixes you are referencing is actually 1 hybrid prefix, which is good. But the other prefix is terrible (14 ES).

Please, do not craft on garbage items.
You can literally go on trade and buy a 6-LINKED Vaal Regalia which is the best ES base for 19 chaos. https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Sentinel/XMW4WbtP After that you slam a single Deafening Essence of Greed (5 chaos) on it which guarantees 120-126 life. Maybe you even hit a high resistance roll since they're quite common. You can then add somewhat decent implicits by using the following items: These are quite cheap and can provide you with additional res or even aura effect. Thanks for the advice all.
As said before, I'm not a crafter and I did not realize the amount of life essence of greed will give. (Yes, I'm one of those people that stores essences in their own tab and never look at them...) Not sure what base to go for though. I do not have much energy shield. So do I go for energy, armour or armour + shield? If I'm correct: - Vaal regalia - Glorious plate (which will be hell to get 5 blue / 1 green sockets) - Saintly chainmail |

" Well, you are using Determination on your current build. I'd go for a Saintly Chainmail. Sadly these are a bit more expensive if you want a 6l. |

I just realized I'm sitting at 90% "estimated physical damage reduction".
Does that mean that getting more armour is kinda useless and I might be better off with a vaal regalia? And why does the game call it "estimated"? Do I have 90% physical damage reduction or not? |

The estimated physical damage reduction is the biggest lie on the character screen due to how armor works. The bigger the hit, the more armor you need to mitigate the damage to reasonable levels.
Copy pasted from the wiki To prevent one third of damage (33%), you need armour 2.5 times the damage (e.g. 250 armour for 100 damage) To prevent half of damage (50%), you need armour 5 times the damage (e.g. 500 armour for 100 damage) To prevent two thirds of damage (66%), you need armour 10 times the damage (e.g. 1000 armour for 100 damage) To prevent three quarters of damage (75%), you need armour 15 times the damage (e.g. 1500 armour for 100 damage) To prevent 90% of damage, you need armour 45 times the damage (e.g. 4500 armour for 100 damage) Armour will never prevent more damage than its value divided by 5 (e.g. 1000 armour will never prevent more than 200 damage So more armor always better. Well I shouldnt say always but in general terms. Last edited by gladiatorpie#3317 on Jun 4, 2022, 12:25:56 PM

So I should be focusing on the amount of armour being shown.
Asuming that is showing a correct value? And what kinda of armour value should one aim for for red maps? |

20-50k is pretty comfortable for reds, 20 is average trash does next to nothing, 50 is almost everything does next to nothing so it depends how much you want to invest in it.
