Recombinators to the Standard
I always had been thought: 'That item has a good mod but...'
The merits: 1. They provide an extra content that can go all the way to the end of the league. 2. They can provide a dream item covetable to all of the players, and do not need a god-like character to achieve it. A valuable content that can consume the currencies and time of casual players who are not seriously interested in the arch-enemies. (They can lead casual players to the arch-enemies.) 3. They demand a lot of extra stash tabs. This fact probably can lead to the income of the GGG. Of course there should be a lot of re-balancing, including drop rate adjustments. I suggest a 'time limit' to the Recombinator generated items if the Recombinators get into the standard. If the Recombinated items maintain its usability only 2 - 3 weeks and become unusable, and need Re-Recombination with another item to be usable again, or not, the players will have another motivation to enjoy the PoE. A gate-limit would be fine, too. A count that goes down one by one when the item passes through a gate. A god-like item may allow you a taste of great victory, and then... Only the husk remains. You can see it, touch it, and feel the memories of glory. You will want to revive it, even though it will change or perish. Based on past league experiences, it feels like anything that needs additional work to stay in the game just gets cut instead. I really doubt these are going to stay around.
The problem with recombinators is they allow us to bypass restrictions on certain affixes. The ability to create items with multiple fractured mods makes crafting perfect items too easy. You can combine multiple essence, delve, incursion, or grasping mail mods to make otherwise impossible items. Being able to transfer good fractured mods on bad bases to good bases vastly increases their power and availability. Being able to infinitely copy and recombine mirrored items to print legacy affixes. Unless they make some universal tag for "restricted" affixes, similar to influenced items, and banned them from recombination, while also disallowing them to be used on mirrored or split items. I just don't see it happening. As fun as they may be, they create better items than Eternal Orbs or pre-nerf Harvest ever did. |
