Is there a full respec option yet?
I personally don't think the skill tree is that complicated. Granted I've only been playing for 3 weeks or so, but I've only used 3 respec points.
I didn't even need to use them, I just wanted to check out an option, and that was before the new tree, haven't used any on it. I'm a lvl 58 maud and happily chopping away in act II merciless. Instant respec isn't really much of an issue one way or the other in a pve situation. What anyone does there doesn't really affect me. Pvp is another story, and Poe will soon have Pvp. I've played a fair amount of Wow pvp, and you can respec instantly there. So, ppl have figured out the optimal build for any given situation, and almost instantly after any change the new optimal specs. Cookie cutter. If you want to be in any way competitive in play you had better have one of these builds or very close to it or you will get stomped. Same with rbg group composition or arena group composition. So, pretty much you end up using someone elses build, or doing very poorly. I don't find that very rewarding. Tedious besides. Every patch, stealth or otherwise you have to go do research and then go shift everything (points, gear forging, gems, enchants, skill bar, etc...) in order to be just like everyone else. In order to do it all again the next time they change something. I imagine this fools a lot of ppl into thinking there is more to Wow pvp than there really is. Kind of artificially increasing the content, or appearance of increasing rather. But thats another topic. Some ppl do like this. They can just copy the current flavor of the week and run around and call everyone who didn't a noob. Kind of ironic since they themselves didn't do anything, nor do they hold any special knowledge. Many times they don't even know how to run the build they have - if you don't believe me, try setting up an rbg pug team. If this game had instant respecs, the exact same thing would happen. Of course optimal builds for any given situation will eventually show up in Poe. As it is now you have to build your character. It can't really be handed to you. You have to understand to some degree how to play it. You can copy a build (meh), but you will have to play through it. I'm hoping between this and some regular and fair tweaking and adjustments to the game and gear variance that copying somebody else's build node for node will never really be the way to go. Try to be the person your dog thinks you are.

I really don't see how anyone could need more than the 16 you get for free just from questing + any regrets you find and/or can trade for.
I mean, the very accessible ability to resolve approximately 20 mistakes (About a 3rd of what you've spent in most people's cases) is incredibly generous if you ask me. Not only that, you can SELECT which passives get refunded. It's not just the most recently spent ones. I can't imagine a scenario where someone would suddenly say "My entire build, every single point of it, is terrible. These free 16 plus the few Orbs of Regret I probably have are nowhere near enough to salvage this abomination of a character I've created." Just seems weird that you could make that many mistakes without realizing. SURELY there are some passives that people would invest in that you just can't go wrong with. Like, max HP. Unless you're CI, there's no downside to a life node. EDIT: Added the word "Not" in the 2nd sentence of the 2nd paragraph. Last edited by Aurinax87#7082 on Jul 25, 2012, 1:43:08 PM

I started reading this thread but didn't take the time to read all six ages, so my apologies if this has already been mentioned ...
The games most decidedly NOT. Forgiving of misclicks, and I have no idea why the poster I was reading would say this. If you accidentally click on a skill while looking at the skill tree, you are committed. Very bad UI design. There should at least be a confirmation dialog before commitment. It's not like it would get in the way of a frequent act ... Man does not stop playing because he grows old. He grows old because he stops playing. - Oliver Wendell Holmes

i dont mind if full respec doesnt exist but please...BALANCE THE BUILDS
when i start to play this wonderful game i have planned my build to become a physical damage ranger with evasion as defence, only to know that elemental damage is atrousously better and evasion is utterly useless if you want people to stop whining about full spec, make builds viable. all rangers i seen runs ele/iron reflex NON OF THEM RUN EVASION AND FARM WELL Last edited by Voidling#7984 on Jul 25, 2012, 4:18:26 PM

" Full evasion? No. But Evasion/ES is perfectly viable. So is armor/evasion. Pure evasion is just a really bad idea. You can evade 95% of the time, and the 5% you don't will get you killed. Personally I think that makes perfect sense and I doubt it's about to change. |

I don't support a full respec, but I do think Regret Orbs should be a little more common or cheaper to vendor. I'd like to see some thing like:
- A regret orb provides 2 respec points (easy) - and/or, they vendor for 1 scouring instead of 2 (half the price) - and/or,, there's a known vendor recipe for them (that isn't too difficult but gives something to farm for). Maybe something like 60x normal items. ie. basically saying "I REGRET filling my bag with so many TINY useless items" :) Note: that's an average of 2 cells (belt/flask size) per item to fit it all in your pack to vendor. That may seem a little strange but if someone REALLY wants to get themselves more Regret orbs then at least they have something semi-exciting to farm for. IGN: Ganicusss

Holy necro.
I'm in an abusive relationship with life. It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.

" Stop necroing almost a year old threads. There will never be full respecs and even the current system is WAY too forgiving. Mods lock this please. |
