Runic items + Faceted Fossil crafting - Does not seem to work?

Hi,

When you use a Faceted Fossil, you can get +1 to level of socketed STR, INT, DEX gems on most items.
However, this does not appear to function at all on items with Ward, and the mod cannot appear on them.

Is this intended? or is this a bug?

Search criteria:
at least 1 ward, and any of the 3 mods.

Yes, I have searched online/offline, in both league and standard, and also used 60 myself.
The chances of getting at least 1 of those mods is

92.323% per 2 attempts.

Which item have you tried? The helmet supports only the strength mod, the gloves and boots supports none of these mods.
