Vaal 21 Gem turned into Normal 21 Gem?

Hi there,
I've been using Vaal Orbs on Lv20Q20 Blade Vortex, and when I finally hit 2120 on the gem today, which turned into a Vaal Blade Vortex I was very happy. After a couple of hours, I logged in my other character, and checked the stash I stored it in, and it BECAME 2120 NORMAL blade vortex. I don't know what to say. The rest of the 2020 gems which I used vaal orb on are in a different stash, and the vaal version remains, only the one I cared about the most got bashed into a worthless gem. The only other thing I can mention is, that I do already have another 2123 Normal version of the gem inside the tab (from trading).
This league my luck has been pretty shitty, and this just gives more reason to quit.

With a Vaal Orb, you cannot get a level 21 Vaal gem as a result. Level 21 Vaal gems are a double corruption that can result from using a temple's Lapidary Lens on a level 20 gem instead.

yea you did not get a lvl 21 vaal blade vortex with a vaal orb, going vaal is one corruption result, getting a level up is another.

to get a lvl 21 vaal you have to use the double gem corrupt in temples.

You used as vaal orb to get level 21 and the vaal version? Are you sure? A vaal orb can only give one corruption, so either +21 lvl or vaal version (+ qual as well, but this is not important now), but not both.

Maybe you had another Vaal BV (which wasn't 21/20) and you somehow mixed both up?

Thanks for the replies. I truly see it with my eyes, and I was excited to see that the gem turned RED, and I surely stared at the gem for a minute straight and it says 21/20. Am I hallucinating? If it is impossible to get, then I really don't know because when I put it by the 21/23 normal version, it is clearly RED and different. When I logged with a different character it turned to normal.

Could it be your first character lacked the stats to socket it, hence the gem was red for that reason? Whereas your second character had sufficient stats and therefore it looks normal?
