The most telling thing I've heard about this league

I'm a hothead, and I absolutely hate this league. [Removed by Support]. The game flat out isn't fun, and AN mods have completely ruined what sets POE apart from diablo 3 (Extra Content).

But, again, I'm a hothead with rash opinions. What's much more telling is my partner's opinion. My partner is extremely chill, and will generally suffer through whatever is going on with a smile. Their opinion on this league is simple:

"Last league, I could play all day and have fun. This league, after an hour or so I'm so frustrated I wonder if I'm ever going to play again."


If you're going to be a tool and try to deflect by putting my builds under a microsope, at least look at my actual main character this league (The 85 juggernaut). [Removed by Support]

AN isn't fun. End of story.

Hangovers arent fun. Drinking to dangerous levels of excess is.

I'll attempt to reword what the OP said but was removed due to rather hot-headed language: the developers who allowed mere rares to reach this level of difficulty and complication for virtually no reward should consider re-evaluating their design approach, and whoever is ultimately responsible could do with a short, sharp reminder of why people play and enjoy this game. They play to be heroic and to earn their power, not to simply run away from pointless, fruitless enemies.

I can't believe that GGG, even now, seem oblivious to the oldest rule in game design: the risk must be commensurate with the reward. I don't necessarily mean anything as ham-fisted as loot, although that is the primary form of 'reward' in PoE. I mean *any* form of happiness won by facing down a challenge. We're all tired of hearing about it by now, but it's not as though Souls bosses drop a lot of loot -- and yet beating them is terribly rewarding.

It seems to me GGG has started down and is continuing this path whereupon 'blunt force attrition' took the place of 'challenge', which is awful because dealing with attrition is neither rewardingly risky nor riskily rewarding. And if you strip appropriate rewards from that attrition, people who've been conditioned to treat your game like a loot dispenser aren't going to bother with it.

Just because you have 'grinding gear' in your name doesn't mean you have to forget the 'games' part.

If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I can confirm that most archnem mobs, especially essence ones, take way longer than map bosses to kill, and it's absolutely ridiculous.
Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris.
No reward is the problem

If i not use sentinel rares drop absolutely nothing

We just suffer without getting nothing as reward

I dont mind the AN dificulty but make it rewarding

The only mod i believe should go is the one that makes packs invulnerable

Generally im disapointed due to very poor testing by GGG

These mods should come in a way that we can add them for EXTRA rewards IF we want not on every rare and magic monster , is too much for average player

What the point to develop new MTX if you are driving ppl away ?

I think the first post about changes was extremely telling :

"and so we awaited player feedback and death data to see if it was actually too hard for the average player. "

Data does not measure how much fun people are having. I find myself constantly taking breaks and venting on the forums..

The league is very young and retention is bad now and I think a lot of players are currently coping and pushing through hoping it will get better but a player can only take so much abuse before they move on.

What "rest of the game"? AN is literally all through the game. That's the whole problem.

If they wanted to make AN mobs like Essence mobs, that'd be fine. But that's not what they did and it's garbage, and I haven't played since the first day.
