Is it true Betrayal is the worst mechanic?

The answer is yes. Now that we're going full customization please implement blocking Masters random spawn.
We tested it extensively

Given how it functions, this can be easily remedied by adding new potential Syndicate members.

We have had several new leagues since Betrayal that could all benefit from new members representing them. Heist, Ritual, Synthesis, Delirium, Conquerors, Maven, Eldritch, to name a few. There should also be an Incursion Syndicate member to coincide with Bestiary and Delve.

There's nothing wrong with having too many members, they can already cycle in and out like we have with the current roster.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

Betrayal is one of the best league mechanics. The rewards just need a little juice.
anything you need to use a "cheat sheet" from another site is a bad mechanic. i still havent learnt how syndicate works for this reason
Itemized safehouse rewards is what it needs.

I also wouldn't mind additional members. It would make getting specific ones more annoying, of course, but it'd add extra flavor and other valuable rewards.

I disagree with this point. Betrayal mechanic can be learned just like delve mechanics(biomes, secret passage etc). You make a choise not to learn it and that is 100% fine. You can still progress it just with slightly less rewards. This is a very acceptable and good solution for a league mechanic.

Delve is 100% skippable while betrayal sadly isn't. I wish it was but it is a lot smaller issue now than before. I usually just kill the intervention ones and leave them without clicking so that other betrayal encounters won't trigger when I feel like skipping the mechanic.

this is my rule of thumb with few exceptions.

it COULD be remedied if GGG actually showed a reward previews for each member.

also i have an unpopular opinion that syndicate should function like incursion.

whether you brick your syndicate board or it's suboptimal, it shouldnt matter. once you unlock the master, you have to run it.

But that's what I love most about Syndicate. I'm free to fine-tune the board no matter how long it takes. Resetting the board is probably the worst thing about the league.

I think it'd be better if the board didn't get reset if the Mastermind is defeated. If that happens, fine, then you can force us to run it.

I think it's fine the way it is, supporting a variety of playstyles.

You can absolutely get away with winging it, setting up your atlas tree for additional intelligence gains, and run safehouses and masterminds whenever they pop for the boss loot and paradoxica's.

Or you can fine tune it, and capitalize on level 4 rewards with longer downtime between payouts. If you could keep your setup permanently, it would be way too rewarding to get the perfect board early in a league. You could then ignore/full release all encounters that would mess up the boardstate, and use atlas passive gains to repeatedly cash them out.
