PC Controller Feedback

Heya!

This league I've been playing PoE (as usual) on my PC with M+KB but I've also dabbled with a controller at my desk, my Backbone controller on an iPhone using Steam Remote Play, and on my laptop using Parsec and a PS5 wireless controller.

I'm pretty casual, only an hour or two a day, but I wanted to give some feedback on my experience with controller support. I think it's sooooo close to being just as (if not more) fun than traditional M+KB play BUT there's one dealbreaker that had me putting the controller down.

Setup:

I struggled with button assignment initially, but ultimately found a setup that felt good.

Ideally, I'd still like to see:
- Assignable R3 + L3 buttons.
- Left/Right Trigger: Hotbar Select -OR- Assignable Skill / Flask.
- Assign "Hotbar Toggle" to one of my face buttons.
- Assign my Flasks, much like skills.

Play:

No complaints! I played DD, and the Desecrate targetting felt good. So did travel skills.

The item targetting was also smooth. A "loot vacuum" would be ideal, but a compromise could be "hold A + travel over the item to pick up" feature for cleaning up big "loot-splosions" post-combat.

I did find navigating the inventory menus a bit clunky. For instance, I would pick up items while trying to assign skills, etc.

A single inventory screen for item management and additional dedicated screens for button assignment + profile inspection would be nice.

Final Thoughts:

Finally, and this is really the only dealbreaker, the next day when I had some free time to sit at my desk, I went back to my character on M+KB and to my horror I found...

Hotbars are shared between controller and M+KB! I had to reassign all my buttons, and will have to do the same if I ever want to pop downstairs and play on my laptop or phone.

This defeats the purpose of controller support for me, which is to take PoE out of my office and play casually when I've got some free time. I"m really hoping this gets addressed because PoE was a real blast on controller.
