Templar new Ascendancy passive: Searing Purity

Not that great imo. I guess it's decent for Inquisitors going for triple health bar. Plain useless for CI.

It allows going for low life without Ivory Tower, Shavronne's Wrappings, or Solaris Lorica. A few hundred unreserved life will be enough.
Assuming you have 75% Ele Res and -60% Chaos Res (if you have more than this you are a dirty tryhard :p), it still gives you a lot of mitigation. Maths:

Assume a 100 damage Chaos hit.

Without Searing Purity:
100 * (1 + 0.6) = 160 damage taken.

With Searing Purity:
100 * (0.9 * (1 - 0.75) + 0.1 * (1 + 0.6)) = 38.5 damage taken.

As PoE rounds down in the player's favour (I think), this is like having 62% Chaos Res, meaning for two jewels you are getting effectively +122% Chaos Res. Slap on a Brass Dome and your effective Chaos Res goes up to 66% (okay not so impressive). In the extreme case with 90% Fire and Lightning Res, you go up to 75% effective Chaos Res (effective + 135% Chaos Res). Since Melding of the Flesh is used quite commonly, this could be a viable way to mitigate Chaos damage.

I think talking about rounding is pointless because it is not exactly 100 damage in practice, so the rounding will depend on the damage values.

Of course, but I didn't want to say 62.5% Chaos Res so I added that note in. It's pretty common to do representative calculations with nice whole numbers.
