Blade trap with Nightblade
Hello everybody!
I was studying for a possible league starter and I noticed that all the properties of the nightblade are applicable to Blade Trap, however when the trap crits the elusive proc it doesn't happen. Could this be a possible bug? Blade Trap has an Attack skill tag, applies all the effects of your weapon, wasn't the elusive supposed to happen? Thank you for everyone's attention and collaboration! edit; For additional information, if you activate the elusive externally (Withering Step), the critical multiplier line applies to the blade trap. Traps use your combat stats for their attack/spell used. I'm not sure that elusive from e.g. Withering Step should work for it since the line says "Elusive from Supported Skills..."; that might be a bug.
However, the key point here is that you never hit, you never crit, you never gain Elusive from Nightblade Support. Your trap might be able to gain Elusive (if it's not destroyed from being triggered), but considering they can't move...they might not be able to gain Elusive unless they're able to avoid taking damage. Even if they can gain Elusive, they wouldn't benefit from Nightblade's crit effects while Elusive since they use your combat stats--the trap being Elusive doesn't increase your crit chance/multiplier. Not all effects being passed on to the player is intentional and documented behavior for other mechanics, and works both for and against the player. While this case works to the player's disadvantage, as does not being able to leech from trap damage, some effects work to the player's advantage: Damage is reflected to the trap, not to the player Some effects, like boot enchantments, give bonuses if you haven't crit/killed recently |

" Traps and totems work differently from actual Playerinteraction. " In other words, and shorter form. You are the Totem/ Trap Skills used by Totems and Traps take your stats (spell power, crit chance etc.) The Totem/ Trap is not you. Effects like "when you hit" will not apply by skills used with totems or traps. "On Kill effects" like charges on kill, will not grant you charges. "On crit strike" effects wont for example make you gain elusive. which is why the boot enchant " xx to xxx added lightning damage if you havent killed recently" is strong on most trapper builds, that do not use brutality in their links. => you permanently have the added damage bonus. i guess you get the idea Last edited by SquareCubiC#3528 on May 9, 2022, 4:13:16 AM
