Controller support on PC

Playing via steam client. Would love to be able to try it with controller. When trying to change from KB/M input to controller input it automatically goes back to KB/M and says controller disconnected.

If I uncheck the auto detect option and force it to let me set it to controller I can move the cursor around with the right stick, but none of the button inputs work.

I have one genuine xbox wireless controller, and one wired knockoff generic xbox controller. Both work fine in any other game I try.

The wired controller I've tried both via bluetooth, and as a wired connection via usbc.

In device manager the genuine one shows up as xbox controller under bluetooth when connected via that, and as xbox controller under HID devices when wired.

The generic controller shows up under xbox 360 peripherals in device manager.

Running on fully updated windows 10.

I know only Xinput controllers are supported. I'm nearly certain the genuine controller falls under that category. Pretty sure it's the latest version of the controller that ships with whatever the current consoles are.

I'm having the same issue using the Steam Controller.

I'm also failing to find any current thread or topic on this issue.

I've been away from PoE for YEARS because my hands no longer allow me to game without a controller. KB&M becomes too painful after a while.

Im also using a controller. When it wasn't detecting I unplugged and plugged it back in and it registered. after that on the main screen (character selection) I pressed the "A" button and it registered and I was able to use the controller.

I do know once you're in game you cannot change your input from controller to KB&M (or KB&M to controller).

The controller I have been using is a Power A wired controller for Xbox

Never did get controller to work via Steam client. Downloaded stand alone PC client from website and logged in via that instead of through Steam, picked controller, works fine.

Same controller, same setup, nothing different other than using stand alone client instead of Steam client, but it will work via stand alone.

Steam client insists there is no controller connected.

Glad you got it figured out. My next sudgestion would have been in steam if you go to [Steam>Settings>Controller>General Controller Settings] and make sure you didn't have anything checked (this is one thing I had to make sure).

But seems you got it working

I tried steam client with controller settings both on and off. Wasn't working either way.
