New cpu for poe

I would pick ryzen, but both of them are fine. Intel's chips are often built on new sockets, which is annoying, because you also need a new board if you wanna upgrade. Am4 socket running strong for years.

end of this year AMD is releasing AM5 wich is why i recomended him to wait a little longer and get a good am5 motherboard with ddr5 ram support.

cost wise they will be expensive but knowing AMD he will have upgrade options and whats more important replace options for years. intel and their "we change socket every year" policy are a real headache when you want to upgrade or replace a damaged motherboard or procesor.

I've built a total of 6 rigs during the last 7 months ranging from the Ryzen 5 3600 to the Ryzen 9 5950X. They all deliver splendid performance for Path of Exile (any game, for that matter) and if I were to recommend one right now, out of the blue without breaking someones budget, it would be the Ryzen 5 5600X. Hands down one of the best price / performance monsters there is right now.

An argument could be made for Intels current lineup but investing into DDR5 right now is still pretty expensive. While AM4 is EoL, it'll take a couple years for DDR5 to mature.
Go AMD with the 5600x instead, you can upgrade your CPU for a 5800X3D later. If you play games in 4K, there wont be that much difference between either CPU, so pick whichever CPU or Brand you like the most if you play in 4K.

wut? no. AM4 is end of life. 5800x3D is a slight performance boost vs reg 5800x at the expense of worse performance in....everything not gaming related. It's a weird niche cpu and just not a good buy.

He's asking to play a game, not run multiple spreadsheet simulations while rendering in Blender ffs.

Not to mention, buying an Alder-lake with a DDR4 motherboard is as dead as buying an AM4. Because at the price he gave, he isn't buying no DDR5 motherboard, let alone DDR5 ram sticks, that's for sure. At least on an AM4 platforms he has headroom to upgrade for cheap without changing the whole system, cpu, motherboard and ram.

And, wut?, The 5800X3D slightly better than the 5800x?

I would be very careful if you are buying a new CPU mostly because of PoE...

The thing is that GGG has managed to somehow brake engine multithreading which is mostly related to INTEL CPU's. There are some reports that it also happens with RYZEN but these reports are not as frequent.

There are numerous posts in technical section regarding this (eng. multi) issue yet GGG completely ignores it and this problem is present since EVEN BEFORE current league. Some engine patch last league made this... I'm not even sure they plan to fix it, complete radio silence from GGG.

Imagine your frustration if you buy an intel CPU and then you realize that you can't play properly because multithreading is broken.

I cannot promise or guarantee that it will happen for sure or even that it will happen at all in your case. It just seems that RYZEN is a safer bet not to mention that RYZEN seems to be performing better in games, or at least so I've heard (and is also cheaper in general).

So once again, be careful with INTEL. PoE unfortunately from a technical point of view is a very broken game and with more "improvements" it often is getting only worse and less stable.
New mute system is terrible - no trade...
