New cpu for poe

Hi guys what would be better especially for poe. Intel 5 12400f(for 300$) or Ryzen 5 5600x(for 280$) both prices are with mobo already. Or old i5 10gen would be fine and its not worth to pay more for faster cpu.

They are pretty close with the Ryzen winning. I doubt anyone here is going to know more than www.cpubenchmark.net

Intel Core i5-12400F>> Compare Score 19,634 Rank 290

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X>> Compare Score 22,092 Rank 231

I think i5 10gen would work in most builds/cases, but it depends if you want to play other newer games or mind if some builds with onscreen clutter occasionally lag out.

I would take the AMD and get good fast ram + fast SSD / NVME disc.
GPU is also important here....
what motherboard are you going to use with those? personaly i prefer AMD

AMD 7 gen procesors are about to hit the market, with the new gen changing sockets to AM5 and supporting DDR5 ram and a few other things may be it would be wise to wait a little longer

12400F if you going with Windows 11
IMO and from my experience having an SSD makes a HUGE difference for POE.

I built my current PC 6 years ago and it still runs POE fine - most of the time

Important specs
i56600K
16GB 3000 DDR5
GTX 1070FTW
Samsung 860 500GB x 2 - POE is installed on one of these
Samsung 970 EVO plus M.2 2T

good luck - I will be replacing this PC later this year if GPUs pries continue to trend down.

Poe used to run beautifully on my 11 yo Alienware prior to delirium. Performance has increasingly tanked ever since. The latest patch with the dx12 beta has even totally messed up dx11. I wouldn’t buy a new pc until months after poe2 launches. Their track record shows horrible game performance and stability, and they don’t seem to be able to optimize it for the slightest efficiency. I’d wait.

running off the same 2080 at 1440p, i went from a 4690k @ 4.5 ghz to an 11700k setup and the difference is incredible

the game used to run pretty decent. well until delerium came along. delve harbingers would crush my framerate too. actually anything hectic and the game would slow to a crawl. but now even on the juiciest maps it only lowers to 60ish fps, and every other time its 90+ usually 120 right where ive locked it.

this game doesnt really seem to take a liking to older and slower cpus anymore. my faithful old 4 core 4 thread haswell just wasnt cutting it anymore. but yeah the cpu definately makes all the difference in the world with this game, as well as an ssd.

you must have some nice contacts to get a DDR5 6 years ago.

unfortunately GPU prices are tied to cripto minning so unless there is some cripto cataclism dont get your hopes up of finding a good GPU for a reasonable price.
