0 fps freeze for several seconds with no end in sight

Just started doing this over the last 20h. Before that it was "ok" for my potato. But now suddenly I started getting literal 0 fps for 3-6 seconds making maps unplayable. Every time any assets I assume preload, it freezes everything totally and keeps repeating it every 20-30 seconds.

There's no hotfix or patch out, and I just removed a few games, uninstalled, ran cleaner (after the fps issue started), everything should be going smoother but it's never been this bad.

Posting specs later, gtg, just asking if anyone else got this?

Yes it happens to me too. On first map I play the game looks fine. But when going to a second map, the game starts lag on each fight.

Game become literally unplayable ...

I have the same problem, but it started February 8th.

ggg implemented a graph for analysis of those situations. pres tab ingame to show it. press f8 to make a screenshot and then manually upload it to imgur.com and link it here

It's kinda hard to take a screenshot of a graph that tracks stuff which has faded away by the time the 6 second long 0 fps screen freeze finally ends.... just died in gauntlet to izaro, came out of nowhere. Just full freeze. can't do anything. REally fucking cool. Loving every second of this bullshit.

Tried out more stuff to follow when the freezes occur, it seems to be related to aoe ground effects, flame strider, fire arrow burn spread, ground spells, fire cold lightning.

use https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html to check if you're cpu or gpu bound (which one runs on full load).

if you're not able to upgrade the weak parts of your pc, there is only the option to further lower your settings.

poe was released in 2013 but it's updated to the current day, which makes it a game that is released today with all the hardware requirements of nowadays games.

I'm actually leaning heavily now towards it being a cpu issue.
Loading new sounds chokes the game to freezing points.

GGG, I don't have the money to upgrade my entire motherboard + cpu right now,
and many others even with decent rigs have issues to the point where they all go to the ini files to "hack" the ini file to disable sounds fully, since only turning them off in the options does not help.

Can we for the love of god, get a ingame option for this already?
So we can fully disable certain sound effects/music/ not filter alert sounds, so that it actually improves the performance, out of this unplayable hell hole?
Here's a clip recorded at 30 fps. No, there's no flaw in the recording.
The insane frame freezing/buffering you see is real time gameplay.

I did a bunch of things, not sure which one was the winner, but so far I have seen major improvements (almost back to normal).

- verify steam files

- uncheck 'steam overlay while ingame'

- update nvidia drivers to v512.15

- adjust nvidia settings as to: https://youtu.be/WsZQ_1Oz8hE?t=41

- and disabled all dialogue, music, ambient sounds.

Hope this helps for now if anyone has similar issues.

yeah, looks like you're cpu bound which stalls the game especially when calculating new shaders.

also, you seem to still use a harddisk.

what you can also check is to uninstall any antivirus software and just rely on the windows defender to be safe (running multiple antivirus isn't adding up for security, its reducing it since those apps have bugs themselves which get abused alot)

then: make a windows defender exception for pathofexile.exe and it's folders so the defender doesn't hook itself into every access to the resourcefile of the game to check for malicious stuff.

also, close all other programs. i would even run the standalone version of poe instead of steam cause steam running in the background also consumes resources.

for the sound issue: if you're paranoid that the sound drags down your performance, get a external usb soundcard to plug in your earphones.

i got one from https://www.fiio.com/e10ktc because my sennheiser headphones draw more power than the motherboard chipset can provide.

you can also disable sound by adding a commandline --nosound to your link to pathofexile.exe on your desktop
